Gamethread: Jazz @ Suns. 8 PST

Fish needs a snickers. Usually he doesn't come at me when all I'm trying to do is calm the pitchfork carrying keyboard warriors.

I know Exum has sucked in the two games back from injury. I also know Exum was excellent at times in December. I can be objective.
Fish is one of the best posters on this site. You are the most delusional poster on the board and you are usually the first to go ad hominem, so maybe you should pump the brakes.

Do me a favor and repeat where I've been wrong. I'd love for you to. So far I have said:

Exum has struggled
Exum played well before the injury
Stop crying about it

And for the record, I love fish and respect the heck out of him. Doesn't mean we always agree.

I guess I'm the most delusional poster on the board because I feel that we can have a forum without crybabies. You might be right there.

LoPo the criticism against Dante is more than fair considering his contract, and resources we have poured into his development.

It's just silly to compare him to Thabo.

No **** Sherlock. Hell no it isn't same as everyone else. That's my entire point.

Thabo was a comparison for all those people saying Exum was wasted money. Thabo production < Exum production although Jazzfanz Childlike Crying Over Exum >>>>>>>>>> Any Questioning of Thabo.

Somehow Thabo put up as many win-shares last season, when he didn't even play half the games, as Exum has in his ENTIRE CAREER!

I agree he deserves criticism. I never said anything the contrary. I was just being hopeful we could enjoy an NBA road win instead of crying about some player who played only 9 minutes.

Yet another stat that doesn't really mean anything. There is no direct correlation between win shares and being an incredible player.

I'm done with this pile of garbage conversation.

I'm really glad we won last night even if Exum played awful and fell on his face multiple times. I'm just very happy we won and are back to the 7 seed.

It is the same as everyone else. There is kind of an unwritten formula for criticism. Obviously playing bad and how bad you play is a huge factor. Expectations factor in. Salary factors in. How long you have been playing bad for factors in. How often you play bad factors in. Minutes played factors in. Injuries factors in.

Fact is that Exum was drafted at #5, has high expectations, has played bad for a long long time, has had a bunch of injuries, signed a new decent sized contract, gets more minutes when healthy than neto, niang, udoh, Grayson, etc, plays bad often.....
Add all that up and he gets the correct amount of criticism. He checks a lot of criticism boxes. High expectations? Check. Drafted high? Check. Injuries? Check. Played bad for a lot of years? Check. Played bad often each year? Check. Got a new contract that his production doesn't justify? Check. Gets more minutes than a handful of other guys who don't play any worse than him and often play better? Check.
It's deserved. Criticism is kind of a compounding commodity. The more you play poorly and the worse you play and the longer time the bad play goes on and the higher your expections the more the criticism keeps compounding. Takes a lot of good play to change the reputation after a certain point. Rubio get a lot of criticism for the same reasons. Guys like udoh and thabo and Grayson don't get much because they have less of these criticizeable offenses going against them. Same for Rudy and Spida and Joe, etc etc.

Are you having a bad day?

I also take more than a few games into account. I like to use as large a sample size as possible. I take the good games from X into account too when it comes to my criticism. There haven't been nearly enough of those to give the benefit of the doubt.

I'm good man.

I used to be a guy who advocated for CJ Miles because I never thought he deserved the hate he got. I just need to learn to shut up and suck it up. I'm not gonna change any minds.

Its all good. Go Jazz.

I liked CJ too. Perfect size, good athleticism, beautiful stroke. I don't get why he didn't pan out. I guess it was probably mentality and work ethic that did him in though I have no idea
