Gauging Devin Harris' Trade Value

i think he will be better. Harris is very skilled but he cant use his skills as to be an elite pg. First of all he is more of a scorer than playmaker which is not my preference in pgs. And second, he isnt a guy who can play under pressure, he takes advantage of some weaknesses of low caliber teams but he wouldnt carry a team on his shoulder and win a tough game or two in playoffs. I think knight has more guts to be a better player

Why do you think Harris can't play under pressure?
He was a huge reason why Dallas was able to beat their most hated rivals and toughest opponent in 2006 and make their first ever finals appearance.
Tony Parker almost soiled himself everytime he had to face the Cap'n. Devin Harris makes love to pressure.

Honestly I dont like mavs so much but this year i supported them in the finals like it was jazz. I would be so frustrated to see Miami or Lakers champion this year.

And Beaubois is a very good player from what i have seen, why would mavs be willing to leave him for harris? would u really want that?

Dallas is trying to win now, while Dirk is still in his prime and capable of being a #1 option.
Roddy B has tons of potential and will be a good possibly great player one day...but it's gonna take some time.
He's still adjusting to the NBA and really pro-level basketball. He didn't play college ball or even pro ball in Europe...he came from a tiny league in France.
He's still adjusting to America. Kid is still learning the English language.
He's coming off a broken foot injury also.
Don't get me wrong, Roddy has potential to be better than anyone on the Utah Jazz roster right now.
Heck, he has potential to be better than anyone on the Mavs roster right now except Dirk (and maybe Chandler).
But it's just potential at this point, albeit with a very high ceiling and a small contract--exactly what the Jazz need right now imo.
I'd prefer to keep RoddyB, but I realize Dallas would have to give up something good to get the Cap'n.
RoddyB will be better than Wes Mathews.

but u lost to gsw anyway. i always thought dallas is a fragile team and thats why they failed in playoffs. but this year there was a good teamwork and good defenders like chandler, stevenson. Its really a miracle u became champions, i would give more chance to even memphis.

Harris was a decent role player but i dont think he is that good. I would prefer knight to harris all the way down.

logical explanation, but i disagree with the anyone on jazz roster part, i guess u have never seen hayward play.he has tons of potential as well

Dallas won 67 games that year and beat every.single.team in the NBA that season except GSW.
GSW was the one team that could beat Dallas, they were the Mavs achilles heel and kryptonite.
They also has Dallas' former coach Don Nelson, who knew the ins and out of the Dallas roster and how to contain Dirk and shut down the team.
The 06-07 team would have beaten any other team they faced in the playoffs. They would have been champions had it not been for GSW.

At least that's what I like to believe :)

Hayward is my 2nd favorite player on the Jazz after Harris, and I think he's great!
Hayward is already on track to be better than Roddy B, no doubt.
I was just saying RoddyB has the *potential* to be better than Hayward.
His speed, agility, natural shooting ability, etc...give him a great chance to be great one day.
Gerald Green had all the tools to be great too, as did Michael Jordan...you never know for sure, but at least he has the physical talents and he's young.

well gerald green had some tools but lacked soul, anyway to sum up, im pretty surprised there r teams who want harris so much. (im not sure if its just u or general base of mavs fans want him the same way) If we wont get any pg in the draft, i would be so happy with beaubois - harris swap

If we were building a hypothetical untouchables list (or most unlikely to be traded list) for the Jazz roster, where would you guys rank Devin Harris? Top 10, Top 5, Top3, 2 etc.

there is no untouchable in utah, we saw that in d will trade
i think our move was a milestone to prove nba a player -no matter whom even kobe or lebron- isnt greater than the franchise.

Well the Jazz basically don't have any Point Guards on their roster right now and Devin is arguably their best player.
Maybe he's not untouchable but wouldn't he be in the top 1 or 2 or 3-ish

Unless something crazy happens as teams scramble to get under whatever the new cap will be, I'd be stunned to see Devin Harris anywhere but Utah when the season starts.

If KOC really is dead set on taking a PG at #3 then Harris is gone inevitably and we're just talking about a question of when.

If the Jazz got Philly involved (since that's KOC's favorite trade partner), we could bring in Roddy B, a re-signed JJ Barea, and Andres Nocioni (who really has an expiring deal since his last year is a team option) for Harris while sending Haywood on to Philly since they basically don't have a center. Add low-value draft picks and cash to taste.

I don't think that's actually plausible for a number of reasons, the biggest being Haywood's contract, but if the entire goal is "get Harris to Dallas" that works out better than most deals.

KOC's favorite trading partner is Billy King who's w/ the Nets, hence DWill's exile
