General NBA Craziness and How it Applies to Utah

The Jazz waste an asset?!?

That's all we do. Stockpile assets then let them expire. Gots to make those dollas.

Folks: Larry Miller was not an educated man nor an overly bright man. He surrounded himself with smart people and was very successful.

He didn't emphasize education with his kids. Now you have a bunch of less smart kids, with no education, a privileged upbringing and used to spending a lot of money (see the 100 million they threw out the window on a racetrack).

The Millers have a high net worth but they aren't flush with cash.

The more I hear, the more I think last year was a dream year for Utah. Low payroll, second round of the playoffs.

Even if everything that you say about them is true it is irrelevant. The team is in a trust and a man with the last name Lindsey is responsible for getting something done.

I don't think the Spurs are going to be able to dump Aldridge's salary AND get a top 10 pick. In fact, I'm skeptical that they find a top 10 pick at all. Since it sounds like salary is there most significant barrier in pursuing Chris Paul or whoever, I think what makes most sense for them is first seeing who can absorb Aldridge's salary out right, and then see who ponies up the most significant assets after that.

So the question for Utah is first, does Diaw and the remaining cap space we have this year absorb Aldridge's salary in effect, and what assets will the Spurs require that the jazz have to make the deal get done?

I see a legit scenario here. I don't love LMA, but if he'll shoot 3s and pass the ball then I am very interested.

We could do it for Diaw and a pick, which gives them a ****load of cap space. But the problem here is that he is most likely a one year deal and then gone. IDK how much we'd want to gamble on being able to re-sign him. I think you'd have to assume he's gone in a year and then decide what, if anything you want to pay for that.

No way in hell do we have the assets to acquire Porz.

Jazz is considered one of the teams that have the best young talent. Granted we don't have a lottery pick this year. But NY already has one of those.

Boston is the only team I think that could outbid us. PHX isn't giving up Booker.

Exum, Hood, Lyles, and Favors plus two 1st rounders should do it.

Rubio's second half of last year was absolutely stellar. He should be on a shortlist of options if we can't get Hill to return. Absolutely.

It's the quality of the assets... 4 quarters does not equal a dollar... the #4th pick is perceived as better than anything we would offer up unless we went Brooklyn style stupid.

As always... depends on comparable cost, but yeah I like Ricky. If Hayward left I'd be annoyed though.
