General NFL 2010 Regular Season Thread

Nothing but a bunch of slapdick mother****ers.

A few points from a Dolphin fans point of view:

-A new OC in the offseason is an absolute must. Josh McDaniels would be a great hire. #2 on the list is bring somebody in to compete with Henne. I like the idea of Alex Smith. Believe it or not, I think he takes care of the ball better than Henne and I think if Alex finally found some stability and a competant coaching staff he could be a solid NFL starter. I should also note that Alex is not my first choice, but I'm trying to be realistic about what Miami can actually grab.

-The Miami Defense is already a Top 5 D in the NFL and only getting better. This is only year 1 of Mike Nolan being DC and the majority of the defense is very young. I think just about everybody is scheduled to come back and Miami can help themselves by dumping Crowder and gettting somebody who actually produces alongside Dansby. Here's the bottom line: If Miami makes the right decisions about the offensive staff in the offseason, this team could be very good in 2011.

-It's amazing to me to see yet another Jet season go down in flames. In all seriousness, it's bizaar. It doesn't matter the era or who's associated with the team, they ALWAYS find a way to show signs of promise and then back it up with a complete implosion. As bad as it is being a Dolphin/Jazz fan, it must be even worse being a Jet fan. With Pitt/Chicago/Buffalo still left on the schedule it's very likely that NY doesn't win again and I'd be willing to bet that they lose at least 2 outta the last 3. That puts them at 10-6 and there's no guarantee that record gets them in as a WC. Wow, from starting 9-2 and quite possibly only finishing with 10 wins? It could only be the Jets.

-That assistant should be fired for tripping the Dolphin player. I know it's extreme, but that is so out of line it's not even funny. The guy went knee-to-knee on a player running at full speed who didn't see it coming. He's very lucky Nolan Carroll wasn't hurt any worse than he was. There is no room for that on any level, let alone the NFL. Give the guy a pink slip.

I'm not sure how well McDaniels would work out here. Word is Nolan can't stand him - he left for a reason. His relationship with Marshall obviously isn't the greatest.

I've read in a few places that McDaniels-Marshall actually ended up on fairly good terms, however I was not thinking of the Nolan-McDaniels situation and that could be a problem. Seeing how this Defense is developing, I'd do whatever it took to keep Nolan happy.

Now that the #1 pick is far out of reach (man the Panthers really suck) I'm back to rooting for the Niners to win the West. Even if that happens, I still want Singletary fired at the end of the season.

Agreed. He needs to go. Not a good fit, maybe just a bad coach.

Word is in the NYC area is that The Jet coaching staff had their practice squad players and other personnel stand at the very edge of the white out of bounds area to intimidate the The Dolphin DB's and Special Team players from running full speed out of bounds. This of course does not excuse this guy in any way shape or form from what he did; but it would be interesting to see what The Jets do as a result. My guess is they suspend him for the season. If they don't the NFL surely will.

The guy has already had a press conference and said he has no plans to resign.

He should be fired. I would think he certainly would be if Carroll tore up his knee, so I don't think it's fair to let him slide because he got lucky the guy wasn't seriously hurt. It's not like he just didn't move, he went out of his way to make knee to knee contact. Very dangerous.

Strength and conditioning coaches are supposed to help prevent injury. He intentionally acted in a way that was likely to cause injury. He's a bigger scum bag than the homophigots on this board. No surprise he's employed by the Jets.
