General NFL 2010 Regular Season Thread

It's not so much Sanchez being over-hyped as it is the whole Jet team. They eked out a few wins against crap teams and they have an over-inflated record as a result. They probably deserve to be a playoff team and they might manage to win a wild card game. But there are at least 3 teams in the AFC alone that are head and shoulders above The Jets - they're not going anywhere.

Unfortunately, I am coming to the realization that everything in this post is correct.

Niners are back within one game of the lead in the crappy NFC West. Yay!

It will only last until Thursday when they get crushed by the Chargers....

Now that the #1 pick is far out of reach (man the Panthers really suck) I'm back to rooting for the Niners to win the West. Even if that happens, I still want Singletary fired at the end of the season.

Oh and Alex Smith actually looked pretty good today. Of course it was against the Seachickens. I think it's likely another team picks him up if the 49ers don't bring him back. If so, I hope he lands in a good situation where he can have some success.

I hope they fire that sack of crap coach from the Jets. I'd call what he did a bush league move, but even they have their standards.

During the New York Jets game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon, the Jets' strength and conditioning coach appeared to intentionally trip Miami cornerback Nolan Carroll as he ran out of bounds on punt coverage.

CBS Sports replays showed Sal Alosi stick his knee out and lean toward the field. Carroll tripped and fell down and needed to be attended to by medical staff on the Jets sideline during the third quarter of the game but eventually returned. The Dolphins won 10-6.

Carroll said he was not angry about the incident. But his teammates were fired up.

"They're cheaters," Dolphins inside linebacker Channing Crowder said. "They do what they do. They cheat. They talk junk. But we beat the hell out of them today.

"I wish they'd tripped me. I'd have broken that old man's leg. I didn't see anything. He stuck his leg out and tripped him? He should be ashamed of himself. A grown man from the coaching staff? That's high character."

The Jets confirmed the culprit in the green slicker was Alosi. The 33-year-old former Hofstra linebacker who joined the Jets as a strength and conditioning intern in 2001. He worked for the Atlanta Falcons before returning to the Jets in 2006.

"The team is reviewing the situation and is looking into the appropriate next steps," Jets public relations chief Bruce Speight said in a statement.

Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano said he would submit the play to the NFL for a review.

"There was a player down on the sideline, and that's not good," Sparano said. "We're trying to take care of players in this game."

Dolphins defensive end Kendall Langford said of the trip: "That was bad. Unfortunately, he had to do that, and he really could have hurt Nolan. He could have ended his career with that. I think maybe somebody needs to do something about that as far as the league goes. I think he should get fined. We get fined for illegal stuff. Why can't the coaches?"

Upon seeing a photo of Alosi's trip, Dolphins inside linebacker Karlos Dansby called for a suspension or even a permanent dismissal.

"Four games? The rest of the season? Suspend him, man," Dansby said. "Get him up out of there. He's got to go, bringing down a whole organization like that. That's sad. You don't do a man like that.

The Jets were struggling against the Dolphins, a team they were expected to beat after a 45-3 loss to the New England Patriots last Monday night.

In 2000, Indiana Pacers assistant coach Rick Carlisle was fined $10,000 for tripping the Knicks' Latrell Sprewell during an NBA playoff game.

Before yesterdays game I was holding out hope that Henne's problem was more of the OC Henning but now.... I think I could complete 5 passes in a game with my head up my own ***.
I'm glad the Phins D played a hell of a game, despite a few dropped INT's Sean Smith did rack up a lot of PD's. And the Special teams WOW big turn around from the beginning of the season.
Oh and like all Phins fans I was steaming when the coach knee'd/tripped Carroll, it didn't help that just a few minutes before the Jets got away with interference when Bess was trying to catch a punt.

Sad sad day when the Special teams (especially the punter Fields) and the Defense is your teams best offensive weapons.

I'm sure most Phins fans won't agree with me but I'm feeling more and more that I'd love to see McDaniels get the OC job in the off season and Alex Smith brought in to battle Henne for the starting job and see if they can get Pennington to become the QB coach.
