George Hill Blows

I guarantee if George could go back he would've taken any deal we had on the table whether it was the rumored deal at the ASB or the rumored 4 yr / $80 mil we had on the table during the offseason, but in an NBA culture where mediocre guys are making $100+ and with him coming off a fantastic (albeit with injuries) season I thought it would be a safe bet he'd get an offer like that. We couldn't wait so we make a move, the market dries up for him, and he's stuck settling with a lesser deal with the Kings. Rolled the dice and lost.
I think Hill was counting on his friend, Gordon, to get him a deal with the Jazz. He and Hayward are (were?) "friends." But that term is very fluid with Gordon. Had Hayward decided to stay with the Jazz (and made that decision prior to free agency starting), I'll bet Hill was hoping it was conditional and included Hill, in which case he could have demanded $25M/per (or more) from Utah. But Gordon wouldn't commit (and we know why), DL was up against it and had to come to the table with PG so he traded for Rubio.

And Hill had to "settle" for his deal. Quite remarkable he got what he did. There was no market for him. Kings could have offered $10M and that probably would have been Hill's only offer.

His stats are actually in line with what he did in Utah, from an efficiency standpoint. It's just the Kings are the Kings. I just dont see the need for being so bitter.

Ummm... NOPE.

2018 stats
PPG: 9.1
Assists: 2.4
Minutes played: 26

2017 stats:
PPG: 16.9
Assists: 4.2
Minutes played: 31

Showing stats like that shouldn't give me or Utah a bad name. If Hood dropped by 8 ppg you would trade him for a pile of rat testies. Me thinks you are still bitter about something else. Hmmm. I wonder what that could be. I LOVE YOU SAINT even if you are the victim here.

Yes, ppg, apg, and mpg are efficiency stats.

Efficiency? Who cares. They second to bottom in the West at 6 - 15, he took less $$$, and he is scoring almost 50% fewer points, getting almost 50% fewer assists, and he's doing it in just 5 minutes less on the court. Keep defending your beloved. Perhaps he will keep blowing you - away.

Yes, when your team gives you less shots, you score less.

This is what I wished for Haywood. Go to the Celtics and lose minutes to different players while the team sucks.

there's still hope Ainge might think he doesn't need him now that Brown and Tatum look good and trade him ...
Why mess with that lineup? Ainge may tell Stevens to bring Hayward off the bench. That's going to be awkward. In any case, there could be a serious problem with team chemistry next year.

Trade him for draft picks, from a lottery team.

So much anger.. he's gone so why bother with the bitterness. Focus on what we have instead of what we don't.
It’s part of the natural grieving process and perfectly healthy.

Because Hill was exactly the type of PG Utah needed. He had a fantastic year in Utah. Can you imagine him sitting back and hitting 45% on his 3's instead of having Brickio? I don't blame him for leaving, though. He put his eggs in the Hayward basket and got bad advice from his agent. His fall back option was the Spurs...until it wasn't.
