George Hill coming to Utah

I did say I love it if Exum starts. He's not the threat that other pg's are to Exum's development because he's as much a combo guard as as he is a pg.

Ya so no one bug me tomorrow I've got to do some wheeling and dealing I need to concentrate

Exum ain't starting next year if Hill is healthy.

I'm on board with this deal... Shows a clear direction. We are all in on keeping Hayward and moving forward with this core.

This signifies cakkes are bakked and pies might be on da window cooling.

In all likelihood several posters here will say how much they loved someone chosen 12 or after and look how much better that would have been. It will be great.

Hey, maybe Snyder is right. But, the Pacers agree with me.

I've made this perfectly clear, but you guys seem to want to ignore it:

I don't like that the Jazz took the older, cheaper option. It's the same issue I've had with the Jazz all offseason. Get good enough to battle for the 6-8 seed and make a ton of money.

If Exum pans out, this is an amazing trade.

If Exum doesn't pan out, Teague would have been the much better trade.

I would prefer the Teague trade because it is safer, although more expensive.

The Jazz took the cheaper, riskier route. If Exum doesn't pan out, we are screwed at PG in two years. Teague gives you a bigger window to have Exum develop.

Hill is a very good player. A Very good player. He fits Utah fine. He will make us a lot better. No one is arguing that.

My complaint all offseason has been this:

The Jazz don't do things all the way. They almost do things, then they chicken out to save some money.

The tank...but not completely. They still have Corbin and he is trying to win games and they end up with the fifth pick.

They gather assets...then let Kanter go for nothing. They let Millsap, Korver, Carroll, Jefferson go for nothing.

They have a goal of making the playoffs...then they don't bring in a starting PG, have one of the lowest payrolls in the NBA and miss the playoffs.

They have a shot at an All Star PG...they go after the cheap, older PG.

See the pattern? That is what all my whining is all about.

It's not Hill. Hill is great. He makes us a lot better. He is a very good player. The Jazz are trying to win now and Hill helps accomplish that.
The jazz are screwed in two years? Sheesh. If Exum doesn't pan out and if Hill goes downhill super quickly in two years (doubtful), then you just sign or trade for another PG. It's not like this is our one and only chance to sign a point guard.

the future of the Jazz really relies on:
a) retaining Hayward
b) Exum, Hood, Lyles and Gobert continuing to improve

If this pans out, then maybe the team gets to 55 wins or so.

If the Jazz get back into the draft, I think they should pick a scoring big--someone who can score the ball from the 5 spot. Then we'd be fairly complete.

But we don't need Hill as an off guard. Hood, Burks and even Hayward can play there. Will Utah compete for a championship next season? If not, DL threw away a lottery pick for a one-and-done player. Far better to get a player on a rookie salary who has a CHANCE to develop and stay in Utah...and who would come much cheaper. DL just ate up valuable cap space, which may prevent him for going after any other significant FA.
Why are you so convinced Hill is gone after a year? Have you read what his agent has said?

I guess Zimmerman is the one that fits best this description and is likely to be there for our second round pick.

If the jazz would have traded for teague and you came to this thread saying that the jazz should have got hill instead them I'm pretty sure that everyone would be arguing with you that teague is the better fit, better player, etc.
And that's ok. You have to remember that this is a jazz fanz forum. When we get a player we tend to really like that player more than all the other players. Remember big al? We all went ape **** (myself included) thinking about big al with d-will. We were posting big al highlight vids and stats and convincing ourselves how great he is.
Many many people on this site would rather have Hayward than lillard. Some would even take Hayward over klay or kyrie.
I love burks way more than other teams gm's, coaches, and fans. Many posters on this site love exum more than his actual value is.

My advice.... Just let this one go.

I was so freaking excited to get Al. He was the low post scorer Boozer wasn't and he said he was going to defend. Him with Okur...we were freaking set.

sigh. nice leap there. real nice.

The more I think about this trade the more I like it. For example, remember the trouble this team had in the last few minutes of a close game. Might have been the biggest achilles' heel of this team. Now the Jazz can play Exum, Hill, Hayward, Favors, Gobert. Just try and score on that lineup.
