Go GET Teague

I don't disagree at all. Love Booker - his attitude, hustle and energy. I'd be sad to see that element of his game leave, but I'm just not sure how they can justify bringing him back at what he'll likely cost. If adding him to the trade makes it happen more easily, I'd do it. It's a basketball decision for the long-term interests of the whole team.

No matter what, we'll always have this. . .

I dont see Booker getting paid more than he gets now, he might get less.

Im really surprised how many people are willing to include multiple picks when we have shown an ability to get steals in the latter half of the draft. If the team really does consist of a lot of players who will eventually have to get paid, we will want that influx of young and cheap talent.
Good point

But still.....

I watched Atlanta last night and Teague looks really good... If we had more wing creators it would be fantastic. Burke is dealing with something... Hopefully it is truly jus flu like symptoms but Neto can't carry that bag every night. I think something will become available.

I wouldn't want to include multiple first round picks... The gsw or OKC is adequate in my mind. We do need that continuous influx of talent... I just don't know how many more guys we can add right now and give time to the next few years. We also have a billion 2nd rounders that will be used as draft and stash assets and hopefully produce a pipeline of talent.

I just don't want to keep kicking the can down the road while we are good enough to really get some guys good reps in competitive games and the playoffs. Adding another creator to compliment what hood and Hayward give us would be amazing. If a deal can be made that surrounds Burke a first rounder and cap fodder plus 2nd round picks we'd have to jump on it imo. If it's burks or hood the answer is no.

Also... Who the eff is this bird guy and who cares what he says?
Even better point

We would lose so much with Booker though. The energy he brings to the team is unmatched. I know we probably wont bring him back next year, but Ill miss him if traded.

We do need someone on this team with that mindset. I feel like the Celts have a bunch of guys like that...or collectively play that way.

First. It's not like Exum is 35 years of age, or even 25. I think there is a more significant chance he fully recovers from the injury. I believe in Exum because of his makeup and work ethic, and those things will only get better with age.

Then there are his physical attributes, and natural defensive ability, both which will only improve over the next two years and see him as a guy that can grow into a leadership role with this team. Not happening with Teague around.

I see him developing into a Kidd/Devin Harris hybrid type player. I loved everything about this kids potential as a rookie. I see him having elite level Harris type slashing skills and getting to the ft line a ton while being a Kidd type floor general. We saw these things in that SL game and to a lesser extent on his national team.

If u have a guy with that potential as young as Exum, even with the injury u have to take that risk regardless of the injury and develop his physical and mental skills as fast as u can already behind thanks to the injury.

Also LOL at Booker and Burke getting Teague here. Holy hell!! Are we that dumb and idiotic to think Atlanta will be that enamored with a package of Burke, a downgrade at pg, and an off the bench energy guy in Booker?? And a late draft pick that if Durant and Westbrook stay in OKC will be a late pick, and if they jump ship will end up being two second round picks most likely. Right...

In order to get Teague we need to risk our future, not only with Exum but in parting with our own pick this year or next and rather Hood, or Burke and Burks with our own pick. **** that!! Let's develop some common sense!! I can't be the only one with any.

Open your eyes and stop looking through Jazz colored glasses.

This all nothing more than wishful thinking and putting all your eggs into the Exum basket, which he has far from proved he's earned such respect. Exum has massive potential, and I want to see that developed. But I'm not willing to bet on a 2nd yr player, who showed low confidence offensively all year, but played great defense, coming off major injury. I would argue your glasses are jazz colored more so than mine, and it's not even a winning approach.

We have an opportunity here to improve the position we have the greatest uncertainty in with A FORMER ALLSTAR. As far as cost, it's well known and reported that the Jazz are one of the few teams with the need and assets to get a deal done. If Burke/Booker/pick is the best out there, which very well could be, it's all ATL has to work with and they pull the trigger. If you're willing to mortgage our future on a "glue guy" then whatever, good luck.

I already took Hood and Burks off the table, btw.

I like ppl who write off 20 year old players with an improving game and injury setbacks. They're guaranteed to look stupid way too often.
Whenever I watch the younger players communicate with Booker, he seems like a good glue guy. His energy and attitude seems to be something the others strive for.
I think his removal could mean a bigger loss than just his boxscore contributions. At some point someone else has to be the veteran who leads, and hopefully that will be at a point where his contract is considered an asset. I'm just not sure I'd move him in a deal that is even slightly unfavorable on paper.

edit: I'm reading that his contract is expiring this summer. If that's true I'd actually do that. But then there're even less reasons for Atlanta to trade for him. I somehow remembered that Trevor had a multi year contract and the Jazz held a team options around $5.5M for him.

I'm not writing off anyone but Burke, Booker/other bench player, and our slew of picks accumulated precisely for situations like this. Sorry, I want to win.

Getting Teague does not equate giving up on Exum. It means we have somebody who could help us win NOW and next year. He is a stopgap + an insurance policy.
Yep.
Thee is way off on this one. Acting like acquiring teague means we give up on/don't care about exum is stupid

Just to be clear. We are betting everything on the guy who averaged 4.8 points, 2.4 assists, 1.6 rebounds, and had a 5.70 PER. Not to mention .349/.314/.625 shooting splits.

He showed some flashes, but there is very little except "He's young and has talent" to go off of with this guy. He definitely hasn't shown he has what it takes on the court. It'd be like betting everything on Trey Lyles being an awesome player.

So you're willing to bet on Exum's full recovery, projected talent and improvement over moving very tradable, non-core assets over a prime, veteran, former allstar PG?

That, my friends, is treadmill mentality. If you can get 1.5 yrs of Teague for Burke/Book,Tibor, CJ, Ingles, etc/picks you do it and don't look back. There's a reason everyone and their mother knows our biggest weakness is PG. If Exum's injury affects his current game at all, he won't be a starter and we're back to looking for a starter quality PG. He's worth it as insurance period. If Exum is done then we have Teague to re-up. If Exum succeeds, then we move Teague hopefully before he hits FA.

This deal would be a bird-in-hand IMO and you do it and don't look back. If they require Burks/Hood you hang up.

yepp.

exum's defense ranked elite among PGs.

hes a coach able kid. I wouldn't give up anybody for teague at this point. Burke and Booker and some bench players not named Burks.

Lyles has shown he deserves minutes and development, more so than Booker IMHOBTW.

he deserves some burn...but Booker gives us a massive spark.

Lyles is a giant liability on defense....kanter esque.
