Go GET Teague

I can cry after this happens as a Burks fan, and even an early fan of Trey Burke, but if the rumored Burke+Burks for Teague happens, that trade would be a steal. Not because I diss Burks' talent, but because of the kind of basketball he plays and it being different than the mentality of the Jazz. Burks can become even greater (hopefully healthy) somewhere else.

Take a look at this list. It is insane that What Jazz can do after this season.

Take a look at this list. It is insane that What Jazz can do after this season.

source: https://hoopshype.com/salaries/#hh-tab-team-payroll

You're not taking into account the raises that will be due some players. Most notably, Gobert is only on there for $3M per year. Just the raise for him alone vaults Utah to near the top, not to mention Hayward going from $17M to mid-$20's or even $30M and Favors from $12M to somewhere in the $20's. Jazz don't really have ANY cap room to play with beyond next season unless one of those three leaves or is traded.. And that's one reason I REALLY like the Teague deal. He'd be around just long enough to make a playoff push this season and ensure Exum doesn't have to be rushed back next year. Then he's gone just as Gobert and Hayward get new deals.

Don't know where you keep getting that idea. Jazz are reportedly ONLY offering Burke + Picks + other filler (Booker and/or Johnson). Not going to happen if Atlanta wants Burks thrown in.

Maybe I fell to one of Hawks' rumor guys' fake bargain leverage rumor.

I call BS. I NEVER remember conversations about Burke and Burks being max players. I'd like to see just one post that did.

I hope you remember the handwringing about how we won't be able to afford to keep our "core" that included Burke and Burks. That is the main jist of my comment. I'll see what I can dig up but this is years ago and my search capability is pretty poor.

Has anybody's opinion of trading basically the only scoring on our bench (Burke + Burks) changed after seeing the bench performances the past few games without either of them?

I never ever ever considered trey burke part of the jazz core

I thought he looked promising in his rookie season. But we have a much larger sample size now.

While I still like Burks, I kind of soured on him. I still think he's a nice scorer off the bench, but I no longer consider him a core piece.

I never thought trey burke looked promising or thought he was a core player.

I understand the souring on alec. I still believe he is a big part of the future. Under a good contract and a 6th man of the year candidate if healthy.
I think he is still very valuable to the jazz future
