Gobert Injured in Practice: Grade II Sprained MCL

Jazz still favored tonight by 4 points. So, some people think the team still has enough to win games against the lesser teams around the league. That's all the Jazz need to do right now. Plus they'll be at home and have a pretty easy schedule. There's a chance they could stay pretty much where they are at or fall back to around 8th in the west.

The sky is not falling.

Has there been any update or timetable announced for Rudy's return?

Lesser teams? You mean a team that has a better record than us and is on a 4-game winning streak and blew us out w/out Gobert?

Oh, and the Magic were without Victor Oladipo that game. His stats dont look great this year until you look at his recent stats when Scott Skiles has started bring him in a 6th man ala Burks.

He is averaging 18-5-5 in 27 mpg in that 4 game stretch (since he has come off the bench, they havent lost).

Center Favors
PF Hayward
SF Hood
SG Burks
PG Neto

Burke,Booker,Lyles

You got to play Favors,Hayward,Hood,Burks 30 to 36 minutes a game similar to Detroit and Neto over Burke starting for same reason as all season ,better pace, better defense, and better ball movement
This is what I would do as well

Sprains can absolutely take longer to heal than a break.
Sprains can take longer to heal than a bone break usually. A tear in a ligament or tendon takes longer than both usually which is what his sprain is in.

Rudy is important to this team. No question about that.

That said this team if it is a playoff team and wants to be competitive in the future at a high level will step up. We will see what this team is made of and we will see who steps up and makes another step. This can make good players great and I expect that to happen to a couple players on this team. I also think our weak bench will step up and we will identify who is our backup C and PF. They will get a lot more minutes and have to play better or we will know that might not be our future.

This injury is rough but it will make this team better in the long run and we will still make the playoffs.

We will also get to see a better offense. Rudy is a great defender but our offense will step up.
While I think this is a lot of wishful thinking. I agree about the part making this team better in the long run. I had questions whether we would make the playoffs before the year started when we lost Exum. Missing Gobert for 3-6 weeks makes that far more difficult. But if we have other players step up and be better it can/will help this team next year when I was really expecting a playoff run.
.
This year always felt like the last year of the rebuild to me. At least after Exum got injured.

Did it? (I truly don't know)
Are there stats to back this up?
I don't know about the stats but losing him did make the defense worse. I am not a believer in defensive stats anyway. Just Watching the Portland guards shred us should show that we missed him defensively.

From this I'm mostly looking forward to Lyles being unleashed.

Even if he can't shoot it consistently yet I'd like to see him being used as a passing big ala Boris Diaw type.

Looks like Hood is out as well.
Mother ****

I already bet on the jazz to cover.

Burks better go off on these sons a bitches

This.
I just went to make some bets based off this info.
They had a player prop bet for hood so I took the under on him scoring 13 points. Seems like an automatic win if he is out.

I also bet that Hayward would have more than 8 total rebounds and assists, figuring that he would have to play more and do more with hood out.

Wanted to do some over bets on Burks too but I have never seen a bet on Burks available yet (one of the consequences of not being a starter/well known name I guess)

Are bets like that not void if the player isn't actually playing?

Maybe with Rudy out the Jazz could make a trade for Kanter. The Thunder don't seem to need him that much...
