Good Alec Burks article from Slam

Nooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!

If we see another season of washed up vets taking over, I will quit watching the Jazz for good. Not like last time when I quit for half a game. This time is for real.

Missing a half game is a major commitment. You are not a true Jazz fan if it is an entire game!

At least most athletes don't say "you know" anymore. That used to drive me crazy. When I was a boy, my father used to take me to AAA games (Salt Lake Angels back then). On the way home, we'd listen to the post-game interviews. One time we counted FORTY "you knows" during the PG show. "You know, I just try to go out and give 110%, you know. And, you know, sometimes I hit a homer, you know. And you know, when I'm playing good, you know, the team, you know, has a chance to win."

Other thing that drives me crazy is saying "ummm." Oh yeah, and talking in the 3rd person.

PKM thought this was funny.

I'm thinking the same thing. He's got the talent to be very good. Looking back, I still can't believe he was taken 12. What a steal. He could turn out to be the best player in that draft class.

Only if Kyrie Irving has a career ending injury.

Based on he has a **** ton of confidence and ability and understands he has a lot to learn. Don't be a dip ****.
You got that out of that article? All I got was that he came in last season with a big head and a sense of entitlement and was still sulking over being benched.

Yeah, I'm upset about guys like Roger Bell and CJ and even Howard at the end who was totally worthless starting over a guy who has talent too.

If he'd used that talent to make shots pass to team-mates, rather than driving into the lane regardless, and play passable defence as well, I'd be more sympathetic to him. Instead he shot as often and as poorly as two of the guys you mentioned, and adopted the attitude of the third.

Burks' numbers as a rookie compare favorably to many players that have developed into nice/great players in this league. You realize you're bitching about a rookie who played in a condensed season within a one-dimensional offense that wasn't showcasing him, right? I'm sure you can think of better things to bitch about.

I thought about making a new thread with this, but it fits in here:

Why is it that when the Jazz core is talked about lately, Alec hasn't always been mentioned as part of it. It's always been Favors, Hayward and Kanter. Isn't Alec just as much the young core as these other three are? I view him as having as much if not more talent than some of these three. For example, whose ceiling is higher, Hayward or Burks? Some have questioned Alec's mental part of his game, and that could be, but athletically, I think he's got Hayward beaten, so it kind of balances out.

So back to the original thought: Is Alec Burks part of the young core of players or is he a career backup?

PG: whoever.
SG: Burks
SF: Hayward
PF: Favors
C: Kanter (feels wierd. he better develop quickly)

I actually strongly believe that burks will be better than kanter or hayward...... and i believe he has a decent chance to be better than favors.
Alec is my favorite player on the team and i just hope that TY will play him.

It seems to me like the Jazz have a roster deep with players that ALL would be the 4th, 5th or 6th options on another team. No horrible players, but no superstar or true go-to guys.
We are stuck in the dilemma of wondering which 5 should start and which 5 should come off the bench.
We should change our name to the "Utah 6th men"

until further proof is supplied by kanter, i think of favors/hayward/burks more as the future core than the three you mentioned. kanter will be a solid pro, but so far we haven't seen a whole lot of "core"-worthy stardom.

my bigger worry with burks is that his ego won't allow him to fit with this team.
