Good News -- Another Year of AK47!

What the reporter said was, that he backed off his earlier statement that Kirilenko "will be" with the Jazz at the start of the season ...

Then the reporter was *wrong*. O'Connor has *never* made such a statement. O'Connor won't even make statements like that about Williams.

As I said, he made a statement, but I never saw it and am not sure when he made it, but the reporter is referring to it, so obviously he did make it.

Unless the reporter was wrong about that unquoted statement existing.

How can you know the reporter was wrong, One Brow? Did KOC tell you? Unless you've been at all the press conferences and heard everything KOC said ??? Sounds like you're engaging in the tactics of "denial of facts as truth" as described by Orwell in Animal Farm and 1984, that if you tell a lie long enough, it becomes true, similar to the tactics used by the *****. You say KOC "never" has made such a statement, but the reporter reported that he did. If you were a competing reporter I might believe you, but you're not.

And McFly, your comment makes no sense at all ... KOC apparently stated that AK would be with the Jazz at the start of the season but backed off it, and said he couldn't guarantee it now, which apparently means he made this before the Carmello trade developed. Makes perfect sense to me. I guess I need to contact the reporter so that we can settle this once and for all.

How can you know the reporter was wrong, One Brow?

Even from Illinois, I've heard enough O'Connor press conferences to know what he does and doesn't say regarding trades. A reporter making an error is simply much more likely than O'Connor changing his shtick. I see reporter make errors all the time. I never see O'Conor call someone untouchable.

If you were a competing reporter I might believe you, but you're not.

I expect nothing else from you.

So you're calling the reporter a liar, or if not, then incompetent. Suit yourself. Having been a reporter, I'd be inclined to trust him. I'll contact him; it's easy enough. I've contacted the Des and SLT reporters before and they always respond.

McFly, they have their email addresses right on the website. And the phone number for sports is also posted. Haven't you ever called a newspaper before? I've worked for newspapers, so I'm familiar with the newsroom. People call all the time. In fact, you want people to call because sometimes they supply useful information. You never know when you're looking for information for a story when something useful might turn up.

All I would do is ask about the quote, where to find it, because it probably was or is posted somewhere ... people who are looking for information aren't nutbags. That's what education is, obtaining information. Isn't that why you come to this site, or is it to insult people?

When I am looking for a quote from an article I use a tool called a search engine it is much quicker and I don't waste the time of another human being with my inane question.

I don't think I come here necessarily to insult people but sometimes I can't help commenting on a paranoid, over sensitive old ninny with a persecution complex.

Well, it would've been nice then if you helped out this thread and searched for the quote, instead insulting of me again, wouldn't it?

Also, the problem with that is we only know two exact words from the quote, "will be," as referenced by the reporter

Like I done said, I don't really post in this here joint no more but given all your recents problems with misunderstandings, and the like, Write, Imma stick up fo ya in this here case, because you deserve it.

This reporter claimed, and least implicitly, that KOC had given prior assurance that AK "would be" with the Jazz on opening day. So a dispute arises:

1. There are those who disbelieve that KOC would EVER say such a thing, and it certainly doesn't sound like sumthin he would say, normally, anyway. But any conclusions they draw from that premise are merely a priori speculation, not anything empirical. Unless, perhaps, they know what KOC did say, and just how it was misinterpreted (assuming it was) by the reporter. Neither Eric nor anyone else has any way of "knowing," other than by deduction, what (all) KOC has ever said. They may be right, but until the matter is cleared up by someone who does know, they can't know they're right.

2. You seem to have consistently said ONLY that you are relying on the reporter for your claims. Unlike some prior occasions, you are not claiming to "know," you're simply quoting someone else and stating your basis for you claims. Quite fair of you to do so, and you have not over-reached in you statements at all, that I can tell.

3. Arguing about whether or not the reporter made a mistake is, at this point, kinda like arguing about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin: No one knows the empirical answer, it's all just futile speculation at this point.

If you find the (prior) quote in question, or learn any more about how it came to be alleged, let us know, eh? Until then, I aint able to say nuthin more except perhaps to express what I believe "on faith," like the rest of y'all.
