It's seems I am vain enough to write this post.

Recently, I referred to our recent anti-vax poster as a "lover of human slaughter". I was informed Thursday that this falls under the categorization of 'We cannot allow users to be abusive, overly aggressive, threatening, or to "troll".' I considered the sentence accurate rather than abusive, not threatening in any way, and an understatement, if anything. However, I don't make the rules, and I don't protest the reprimand in any way.

One thing I do value is the implied contract I make every time I post a comment in here. So, I took a couple of days to let any emotions subside, and make sure of what I felt to be the right thing. I consider every post to be a promise I will behave according to the rules. If the comment above is against the rules, I have decided that I can no longer make that promise to the administrators/moderators, because we have a divide between we as being aggressive, threatening, or trolling with regard to anti-vaxxers. If I can't promise to fulfill my part of the bargain, I have no right to enter into it.

So, good-bye all. I have learned so much here over the years, and have nothing but gratitude for Jason, colton, and various members of the moderation team over the years. Were I to list individual posters that I have learned from, I could probably type out 100 handles and still leave people out. Thank you all very much.

That’s a shame. A real loss for this board. I hope you reconsider this decision soon. You’re a fantastic poster and have enjoyed reading your posts and insight.

Sorry to see you leave. But if it gets to the point where something is actually troubling you on this site (or any site for that matter) you should probably go - or at least take a breather for a while.

You will be missed. Im probably right behind you. Deleted the jazzfanz app from my phone yesterday. Not sure if im going to bounce completely or not but definitely wont be posting as much.

Passions are running hot right now and taking a step back isn’t a bad thing. I know people who stopped watching news and switched to a dumb phone for a month as a mental detox. Trips to Hawaii used to be that way with spotty cell phone coverage and no internet.

If this is a permanent change then I wish you well and know that I enjoyed the banter. If you are taking a step back to breathe and sometime down the road decide to venture this way again I’ll be happy to see your avatar pop up in a thread.

Part of this is aging and adulthood responsibilities I’m sure. I know it’s that way for me. It would be nice to get a younger group of Jazz fanz in here. In the 18-25 year old range. Guys (and gals) who can help the board evolve and become regulars much in the way we were.

Part of this should be remembering this is a Jazz board and GD is just a small part of it.

My guess is people came here because they’re Jazz fans and at the end of the day, that’s all that matters.

You would think......... but then there are a number of posters who ONLY post in GD. Makes it seem like maybe they didn't come here because they are jazz fans.

Maybe stay off of GD. Not saying that in any sort of smartass tone. Just a suggestion. Stick to Jazz and possibly more benign GD topics like Netflix and what not. Idk. Just a thought.

Dude I'm in Utah week after next. Let's have lunch or something.

It’s become a mystery to me why certain posters are allowed to stay and not really contribute much of anything while chasing away long time greats. Gameface and One Brow are just the most recent. Most of the “old timers” rarely post anymore. I certainly don’t post much, but browse on an increasingly less frequent occasion.

Kick against the pricks mate

Kick against the pricks mate

Teach, all in all you're just another brick in the wall"" ;has come a long way since the sixties when the teachers were mostly teaching the 3 Rs. Now the dudes who wanted political objectives to dominate have got the lectern.

And the kids consider your politics to be "the wall".

Well, if they can still think, that is.

I considered OB to be the absolute epitome of that kind of brick.

Human nature is a sort of absolute of science that politics cannot fundamentally change. We will always have some kind of authoritative government, and some kind of established interests and business, but letting any set of humans have indisputable power will always be our biggest mistake.

The American Revolution was a first attempt to limit that kind of abuse.

Everyone should study the true history of that time. Every thinking person should take the side of limiting governmental power. Fascism will do more damage to the world than climate ever could.

OB was all in all the one person in here who was most worthwhile to talk to.

I'm sorry he went to that extreme on the anti-vaxxers. The right of the people to question authority even in science will overall save more lives than vaccine reluctance will cost.

Lol Comrades and their cancel culture eats it's own. Love it! It was only a matter of time until socialistic(Communist) rule you've supported bites you in the *** like it has every single country and person it's touched.

It's way too easy to have too much of a digital life in this day and age.

Whatever you decide to do, it's your time to spend it.

GD shows that the Jazz connection is not enough to keep people connected. I (for the most part) try to avoid political discussions, because it is not worth my time to do so, especially on a sports forum.

I always find it fascinating when people spend so much time trying to relay a point on an internet message board as if you will actually get anything out of your time "investment".

For many on here, it is an actual addiction. OB has over 15k posts, probably not an easy habit to quit cold turkey, but he'll be better off if he can. Hopefully he will replace it with something more productive.

Dude I'm in Utah week after next. Let's have lunch or something.
Let me know when you are here.
Just to let you know ahead of time though, I'm working 50 hours this week, 60 next week, and 60 the week after. A co worker is out due to surgery so I'm covering. Which really isn't so bad because my employer bumped overtime pay for anything over 48 hours up to double time. So those will be some real nice checks.
Still might be able to do a lunch with you though

Double time sounds nice!

The 10th would be best. That's my only day off that week. Let's make it happen.
