Graphic showing all NBA teams play style. Jazz is kind of weird...

fish is right.

I would only look at trading Favors if it is part of a deal that nets us a bonafide star. If we can package him with other pieces/picks etc. and bring in a Butler or something then hell yes. But just to trade him for the sake of trading him is monumentally dumb. He could shake off the injuries of this past year and become the big we need him to be. There is a strong motivation for him to perform, and frankly if he has a good first half of the season we could trade him at the trade deadline for far more than trying to flip a broken PF/C this summer. And if his woes continue we won't get any worse at the trade deadline anyway. So holding him, unless a much better deal comes along, is the smart move.

If he plays well, he increases his value which means he costs more. But it doesn't matter - he doesn't fit next to Gobert. He gives us great depth, but we cant win against the Warriors with them both on the floor. Its stupid to pay the money it would take to keep him if he has a great contract year.

I see you agree with me. You are finally making sense, if we ignore the rest of that post which makes no sense.

He doesnt fit next to Gobert. We don't want to pay a PF $20 a year who cant play with our C against top competition.

How much did Favors and Gobert play together against the Warriors smart guy?

I would absolutely pay Favors 20 bucks per year. In a heartbeat. Out of my own pocket.

That said I guess you missed the part about Favors and Gobert both coming off of injuries. Or you have no concept what that means for a top-level athlete.

Gobert played the entire series without issues. Favors said he was 100% right after game 4.

Quin did not play them together. Take that up with him or generate more non-existent excuses. Either way, he did not feel like he could win with them playing together.

Many players are banged up just like Favors and Gobert. And many players play through injuries just like Favors and Gobert. They both played substantial minutes in that series but never together.

Much of that is due to Withey rather than a knock on Favors. If you have a Favors to throw out there in place of Withey against the Warriors, you pretty much have to do that.

He did say it during his post-season press conference. Kind of funny, as there is no way he has been 100%.

Yeah, I did hear him say it during the playoffs. But he did also say he was never 100% last season after the season was over. I definitely believe the second statement he made, the first one was kind of just a Im good to go type statement. Or I am as good as I can get right now.

Favors said after it was over he was not healthy.

It was very obvious watching the playoffs that Gobert and Favors were hobbled. Favors was more hobbled and limited but they were both playing hurt.

When they both were healthy they played together plenty and they played together well. Favors is not very good at Center and never has been. But he is better than anything else we have and when he is very limited in his minutes then backup Center is a better spot for him. We do need a solid backup for Gobert next season.

When healthy they played together plenty the previous season and put up great numbers playing together. They have fit together wonderfully when healthy. Health is the only concern with Favors, but it is a big concern.

Gobert and Favors could have easily played together against GS but didn't. Speculate all you want, but Quin simply didnt do it.

So according to logic, either they dont fit together against GS or Quin is a terrible coach.

Or DL is lying through his teeth about Favors being at his healthiest in an effort to maintain his trade value.

Or they were injured, especially Favors and one of them was minutes restriction. Favors averaged 10 minutes a game against GS, the most he played is 12 minutes in a game.

Favors was only playing a few minutes a game against a team that runs small ball. The best place to put him is backup for Gobert since you have others that can play well at PF, especially against small ball.

The previous season when they were both relatively healthy they played about 20 minutes a game together against GS in the 3 games they both played in. That is more than any other combo of bigs.

Does he really though?

If he is healthy next year and plays like his old self, who would pay top dollar for a half year rental? Won't Favors being out of contract next year impact what we are able to move him for?

I always though that going BIG was they key to beating GS. Bang them down in the low post and get them in foul trouble...

Thats why imo Favors (2015/16 version) is such a huge piece in this team reaching it's potential.
