GUN CONTROL is STUPID. HELL YEAH

Hitler was a socialist, too.

Hitler did not take control of private industries, or even regulate them heavily. He was a fascist. They are different things.

No socialist government can last, because as Margaret Thatcher observed, sooner or later they run out of "other people's money" and they can't supply the basic needs of life, and will start to "thin the herd".

Are you saying that Sweden is not socialist, or that they are about to run out of money?

Yes, Europe is so much more dangerous with less guns. I feel scared everyday knowing that when I walk into a gas station no one is armed, and no one has robbed the place before. I'm really scared for my family. I'm thinking of leaving the bolt off the my door unlocked tonight. Gasp!

Yeah this kind of stuff never happens anywhere but murrica.

Germany has 30 guns per 100 citizens; America has 88. In Germany it's much harder to get a gun license and to own multiple firearms, where in the US most gun owners have multiple weapons. As such, the gun owning density is probably similar.

I personally have pretty moderate views on gun control. When I'm talking to people who are totally anti-gun, I tend to take a fairly pro-gun stance, against most limitations. But when I'm talking to people who are total gun nuts, I find myself arguing in favor of mandatory background checks, etc.

That being said, I DO think that private gun ownership is one of the main reasons why something like the rise of the Nazi party and their blatant use of force against opposers could not/would not happen in the US. (Does that count as Godwinning the thread? I'm not sure.)

Pretty much my views as well.

As far as feeling comfortable in the presence or absence of guns goes, I feel as secure living in Orem as Rev does living in Germany. I wouldn't feel secure living in the Southern states with or without a gun. I think the security angle is widely misused by both extremes -- temperament of the local populace is what matters when it comes to violence, not guns.

camera everywhere, government spying. Etc etc.

I would not want to live in brittain even if i get paid 1000 dollars a day

I just bought a gun last night. It miraculously didn't shoot anybody or cause any harm.

Personally, I'm a big fan of how I can give the guys my license and walk out of the store with a brand new pistol in 25 minutes.
