Buy tickets a month or so in advance, playoff schedule gets announced days in advance...
Those tickets are a few hundred dollars.

There are ways around this, it's called DVR I do it all the time, I turn all my notifications off and don't want to know anything about the score, then I watch the game.

Me too, but I also know several people who don't pay a few hundred a month for cable service. Crazy, right?

Let's review
1. If you can't watch a game DVR it!!
A. If you don't have cable, you really aren't a fan
B. If you're not a jazz fan, you spend hundreds of dollars for a play, then spend the entire time on your phone, not only are u rude, you spent hundreds of dollars for a play you didn't care about!! So yes they are idiots!!

I get it from the standpoint of a patron. If someone were checking their phone near me, I'd be annoyed for sure.
From the performer standpoint? Don't understand it as much. People pay good $ to be there and IMO can do whatever they please in the theater. If they choose to be distracted, so be it.

It has been interesting to read comments on the news stories about this. There are so many people who believe that because they paid for the tickets, they have the right to act however they want - including checking their phone constantly. They do not care if it bothers the actors and the people around them, because 'Murica.
I have a friend who I avoid going to movies with because she cannot stay off her phone (same problem in going to lunch with her). I would end the friendship altogether but I work with her and that makes it a little difficult. But I have really cut back spending time with her. I do not appreciate anyone who cannot respect the rights of the people around them, and who believe they are above the rules.
