Has the Team Quit on Quin?

Last night no one had a + by their name in the box score. This is not the first time this has happened this year or the first time we have been blown out. I can't imagine Jerry Sloan tolerating an effort like that for long. Kind of reminds me of the last days of Tom Nissalke's reign as head coach of the Jazz.

Last night's effort was really a downer based on what happened the night before. Indie beat the Suns by 5 tonight.

The Pacers only beat the Suns by 5 because they had tired legs, just like we did last night. That's generally what happens on the second night of a back to back.

I feel like everyone is begging for something to point to and blame for current issues, but whenever anyone points out that fatigue is a major byproduct of their travel schedule, people just shove their fingers in their ears and yell. Why is that such an unreasonable seeming source of the problems for some of you? (And note - A source, not THE only source - though I think it's a very major one.)

I think the hard schedule is sapping the players' energy. Really, they're just missing shots. When they make shots, they win usually.

We didn’t get blown out by the Mavs?

No.

But they have lost their edge. They need that edge to overachieve, and when they don’t overachieve, well, this is what you get.

This is not a talented team and we all knew that. The success of last year is the main reason we’re seeing less of it now.

This year's Jazz team reminds me a lot of the early 10s Chicago Bulls where it's a defensive focused team that relies on one star to carry the bulk of their offensive load and they get by on just grinding out wins with their defense. The defense hasn't been as good this year, and their star player hasn't been as good as the team needs him to be, and so the Jazz have a losing record because we're not overachieving like Numberica said.

If anything we're slightly underachieving, but I also put a lot of the losses on the fact that the Jazz have had the toughest SOS so far into the season. Good news is that this means the Jazz will likely rebound at some point, the bad news is that to me it really confirms that the Jazz aren't a title contender this year.

I don’t recall seeing 3-4 of the worst air balls I’ve ever seen all in one game like last game which leads me to believe the schedule is a huge part of it. I think we’ll be fine come early Jan, it just depends how much of a disaster December is as to whether that will cost us home court or not

We were supposed to be good regardless of schedule. We have been really bad. Middle of the lottery bad. The schedule is what it is. It is not a reason for playing like we are playing.

We suck right now because we are a team of role players who have to play outside their normal abilities in order to play well. We have two specialists on the entire team - Rudy rim protecting and Ingles 3 point shooting. That can't happen in today's NBA. The team hasn't given up on Quin. The team simply doesn't have enough to provide Quin.

The schedule has been hard.

But we haven’t even looked competitive in so many games.

I didn’t think we’d look so bad in as many games as we have already all year.

Quin is playing chess while the others are playing checkers.
As soon as the Chess WC is over, the team will be able to focus.
Nothing to worry about.

I hear what you are saying. I think most of us were spoiled by how well they played last year on the 2nd night of b2bs. We have come to expect that it has minimal impact, when in reality it has big impact.

I still have hope, but we need to lock in and start playing up to our potential and not to the competition. We seem to raise our play when we play the top teams, and underestimate those 2nd and 3rd tier teams.

Does this happen to every team or just the Jazz? Honest question, I don't know enough about other team's schedules.

I don’t think they quit on Snyder, but Monday’s game they had no energy and it was pretty obvious to the crowd that they quit. They played with zero energy. I know we’ve had the toughest schedule so far but also....the season is 1/4 over. We gotta start being at least competitive
