What's new

Hate on it haters.

The Jazz need a all star. Not a bunch of overpriced role players

Which all-star are the Jazz going to get next season? Realistically? Who wants to play for us even with all the money we can throw at them? What do we have that we can trade for an allstar?
Deal with it. No allstar wants to come play for Mormon City Utah and we don't have good enough assetts yet that we can trade for one. That's why they have to continue to compile assetts through crappy trades like this. Which city do you people think this is?

It might take a mid season trade. Or even till next offseason. You don't waist your valuable cap space for overrated role players.

You realize that next offseason these overrated role players wont even be on the team, right? Their salaries wont be on the books. You realize this, right? Eric Gordon will be on the books once he re-ups but that's why you poach the Pelicans for a high/unprotected draft pick in 2017.

Read this peoples. Deal with it. Y'all know i'm right
I mean, damn. We had Deron Williams and even having an all-star like him he couldn't recruit any players to come to this godforsaken godfearing boring *** state of Utah

So why not have a Favors and Asik lockdown defense frontcourt while #5 develops and we can start him the season after when Asik is gone and #5 can play alongside Favors?

SO we're helping Houston dump salary (Lin and Asik not long-term solutions) and in the process also giving up a pretty good Euro prospect. They're giving us maybe a pick in the late 20's? Maybe they go for it if they have a FA waiting to sign (a la Iggy/Golden State). Otherwise, I think they see Asik as having good value to trade. Weren't they wanting a 1st for him at the deadline?

We're not winning a chip next season. Why not let Kanter and Favors start, and still give plenty of minutes to Gobert and the #5 (Vonleh?). Then Kanter has >>>> value than an overpriced guard with bad knees if/when the Jazz want to trade him. And Utah still has $20M+ to use for either a good, young FA with a healthy body, or on a salary dump that brings in better assets.

So what's the point of trading Kanter and the 23 for 2 guys who won't be on the team after 1 season.
The jazz are building not taking steps in reverse.
Eric Gordon is a bad egg. He is a injury prone baby. I wouldn't expect new Orleans to be bad enough to warrant taking his awful contract.

Good point. As for the Rockets trade, a 20's pick is still good to have especially in 2017 with a draft that will likely be stacked. That's a good trade chip in many we'll need to get a good player here.

I'm gonna bookmark this post for when the 2017 draft comes around and their pick turns out to be an all-star calibur player.

And it's actually Tomic' rights for those two guys. Not Kanter and 23

Um, did I not involve draft picks? Pretty sure I did big fella.

Yeah you had us giving one up in a great draft for "future pick" Sounds awfully neutral. Take out the #23, Kanter, and Tomic add unprotected pick or picks from NO and we are closer. EG is a big negative value for NO and will take a lot to move him. He's also got a piss poor attitude.

Also, we'd be paying $30 M for Lin and Asik this year even though the cap hit is $16 M. That's a lot of dough for a one year rental of backups to swap our first rounder this year for Houston's next year.... and use all of our cap space.

We are getting .25 on the dollar in this trade.

OUCH! That's a great point. No one is going to take on those contracts. Keep Tomic, and require them to give us #1 picks in 2015, 2017 and 2019. WE give up a 2nd rounder next season.
On the other hand, why? Outside of 2017, late 1sts can usually be bought for $3M (DL did it to get Gobert).

I'd gladly trade Kanter and 23 in this draft for a guaranteed top 5 in 2017. New Orleans sucks Pelican eggs. Jazz are gonna trade Tomic rights anyway, getting a better Center for a year plus a pick in an awesome '17 draft? Hell ya! And who are we gonna sign this season to backup Burke that's better than Lin? JLIII? LOL!

Go to the Kings fanboard, mister "I'm in Sacramento."

I think LA ends up taking Lin and Asik to preserve 2015 space and try and stay competitive this year... can't see a non-playoff small market team biting that bullet.
