Hayward to the Suns?

Funny how much this "Hayword demand Max!!" **** has snowballed.

To be clear, I don't think he demanded the max, but if it gets offered to him by someone, he'll take it and the Jazz will have that decision to make (unless they dump him before the trade deadline).

Before I say that Nobody will offer Hayward the Max, what is the Max now?

Hayward will get offered $14 mil/year at the very VERY most.

For the record, I don't think we can get much for Hayward with his pending RFA, but still I hope Lindsey is pursuing things.

Do you think the Jazz wish they had Wesley Matthews and his salary on this team now? At $7M he would be a bargain compared to Hayward and what he is maybe going to get in RFA.

I know the times were different and there were salary cap considerations etc etc but I am just asking if they wish they could have matched for Matthews when looking at Hayward in the off season.

Do you think that would rub Favors wrong when we said we would do everything we could to keep the youth together and then we trade him? I guess it would depend on what we get in return.

The only concern of a GM is to make a better future for the franchise.

I sure wish he'd taken the offer he was given. I'll bet we would be watching a better player right now if he had. Our attitudes toward him would be entirely different. This stuff that you are talking about snowballing wouldn't even exist. He would have a different level of a leadership role in the locker room. Now that he passed up that money I honestly believe that the better outcome is to trade him.

I know grain of salt but,

According to a GM, the Suns will do everything possible this summer to sign Gordon Hayward to an unmatchable offer sheet....

If they're gonna give him the max, let them. Don't match it and just bring in that superstar that we wanted to replace Hayward. He's awesome to have around, but we don't need more albatross contracts.

Well if the report of the Suns wanting Hayward badly ( I don't believe the report) then maybe the Jazz should do a deal before the trade deadline. If the report that Hayward asked for a contract starting at $12m then make a deal with Phoenix. I like Young, Shelden and I am curious about Hood (Duke). Maybe you can throw in Burks and we get Goodwin or something else. Hayward/Burks for Goodwin and a 1st in 2014 (I doubt they would give us their pick but they have multiple picks). Heck I doubt they would do this trade but it is fun to think about.

i really dont know how to feel about hayward...

I really like his play style and his game is quite good, but i'm having trouble legitimizing giving him a big contract at 14mil. I feel like we'll have another AK47 situation....hmmm

Hayward is shooting below 40 percent and only 30 percent from behind the three point line. He is forcing it way too much. Well, it's his contract year but he still should focus on rebounding, passing and playing defence which he can do at a good level. He only needs to stop chucking and calm down a little bit even if he is on his contract year. Kanter should be our first scoring option: he is the most efficient scorer and best shooter on this team.
