Also, 245 would be a great goal by Christmas!
Yeah that is about what I was shooting for. I imagine I will get there before that though. But with Thanksgiving looming large I will probably slide back a bit. I am going to be following my wife's eating plan pretty closely after her surgery so I will likely see some stronger losses during that phase. We'll see.

I was gonna say 240 but think that’ll be tough. Go for it!

She will go through some pretty tough stuff in terms of eating after her surgery, and I am going to try to follow it as much as I can. But she will drop weight like crazy right after. They said as much as 20-30% of her body weight in the first 90 to 120 days. Right at the beginning they can settle in at 1-2 pounds per day. Pretty insane. I don't think I can handle that diet entirely but I am going to try, scaled up a bit for my body size and composition. It will be an interesting 3-4 weeks that is for sure.

My final goal weight is 225. I would love to get down to 215 even if it is for a single week's weigh-in, as that is the lowest I have really ever been since I left jr high, and when I was at my most fit. But I can maintain 225-235 for the long haul I beleive.

Week 0, Aug 15 - 287.0 lbs
Week 1, Aug 23 - 282.4 (-4.6)
Week 2, Aug 29 - 276.8 (-5.6; -10.2)
Week 3, Sept 6 - 274.0 (-2.8; -13.0)
Week 4, Sep 13 - 272.8 (-1.2; -14.2)
Week 5, Sep 20 - 268.2 (-4.6; - 18.8)
Week 6, Sep 27 - 265.8 (-2.4; -21.2)
Week 7, Oct 04 - 264.8 (-1.0; -22.2)

Ok finally plateaued a bit. Have still been faithful to the diet and exercise, but likely adding some muscle offset some losses, is my bet. Have not had a single "cheat" day yet, so that's solid. This week I will transition to a liquid diet with my wife on Thursday, as her surgery is next Wednesday. Then I will start my water fast. Should drop a bunch over the next 2 weeks, we'll see. Might see an uptick as I retain more water if I get out of ketosis, but I doubt that will happen so soon, especially following essentially a low/no carb diet still. After that, I transition to a whole foods diet, still cutting sugar and processed foods, except meat products (I cannot give up sausage like brats, and bacon, both considered "processed foods"), and reducing my fat and increasing protein, so more of a standard Atkins approach than a pure keto approach. Still watching calorie counts. That is what my wife will be doing for several months, so I will mimic that. I imagine over that time I will continue to lose maybe 2 pounds per week, so I expect by, say, Thanksgiving, to be down another 16-18 pounds, at about 248. We'll see. Thanksgiving will be my first real cheat day, at least that is the plan. So far, so good.

Keep up the good work Log. Really cool what you're doing and thanks for sharing w/ JFC.
Thanks Cy, I appreciate it. This is a good way to keep myself accountable and keep a record of my progress, so it helps keep me on track.

Starting an all-liquid diet today. Had a couple of bad days this week, it's tough to be 100% committed to a strict diet like keto, so I ate more than I should a few days, but really still kept within my macro ratios, so that should be ok. But starting today doing only protein drinks, clear liquids like broth, sugar free jello and popsicles, can do cream soups but probably going to avoid those for the most part. So 5 days of liquid diet then the surgery next Wednesday. Then I start my 7-day fast. Should be an interesting couple of weeks for sure. The wife is doing well, lost nearly 20 pounds doing her prep for the surgery, which is good. Blood work was all good. She is in good health heading into the surgery so that is encouraging.

Can't wait to hear how your wife's surgery goes. My brother is scheduled for Nov 22, and I'm nervous about it.

Well my right shoulder essentially stopped working about 6 weeks ago and i started doing physical therapy but it didnt seem to improve so i got an MRI last week and today i saw an orthopedic doctor who said i have a tear in my rotator cuff apparently.
So i need surgery. Bleh.
Since im on a high deductible insurance plan im just going to deal with the pain until january to ge the surgery so that way i meet my deductible early in the year.

Freaking sucks. Dr says it a 4-6 month recovery period where i basically cant use my right arm at all and then a bunch of physical therapy after that

T-minus 2 days and counting. She is excited. I am more nervous than she is, but I think everything will be fine. All signs point to a good outcome. Although those are probably infamous last words.

Wow going on a strict liquid diet makes you just drop the weight, right? Holy cow! It has been a weirdly not that hard week really. We have been on a liquid diet for 5 days, and today is nothing but clear liquids with nothing but water after 10 pm all the way through surgery tomorrow. Up to today we could still have like cream soups or sugar free pudding or what-have-you, but today is nothing but stuff you can see through, essentially. Tomorrow is just nothing at all. Surgery tomorrow at 3:00 pm, seems like a weird time of day for surgery though. There are a few videos on youtube showing the actual arthroscopic surgery from the point of view of the camera inside someone's gut. Man those are hard to watch, but we watched 3 or 4 of them last night. She wants to know exactly what she is getting herself into. They say the recovery isn't normally too bad, but diet control is essential to success afterward. I am starting my water fast at 10:00 pm tonight, basically, since I will not eat anything for a week after today, until next Wednesday. I have some electrolyte supplements that are recommended for water fasts because it is non-nutrient and provides the electrolytes you lose drinking nothing but water, and a little flavor when all you are drinking is water. This is it:
