"Hey Karl - you're lying." "He can't be counted on." etc. - The Official Following Greg Miller

Where is the line?
When somebody is talking trash about you that you know is not true, at what point do you stop "taking the high road" and actually clear things up?
If somebody was ripping you through the newspaper, radio, or tv... at what point would you call them on what you thought were lies or inaccurate statements?
Is it better to get the truth out there, or just let people drag your name through the mud?

What would you do?
Most of the posters here can't even take crap on here about their handle, let alone about them in real life.
Would those of you saying to take the high road, ever even "take the high road" on here if someone was talking crap about your fake name?

Bottom line, who cares if Greg decided it was time to defend himself, or the Jazz.

You ALWAYS take the high road as an NBA owner. Don't go to the Dan Gilbert school of NBA ownership. Now you have an article on the front page of ESPN making a gigantic issue out of something that could have been classified as just a misunderstanding. There's a difference between talking between Front Office personnel and writing a blog calling one of your franchise icons a liar.

I pretty much agree with what you said. I don't blame Greg for his statement. He acknowledge Karl's contribution and his statement was detailed enough to explain his position and concerns with Karl's behavior. It isn't like he just tweeted hey Karl "Go F%^&^%K yourself and you will NEVER be welcomed in the arena again." I just wish it hadn't gotten to this level but I can't understand how people think Greg doesn't have a right to be pissed or defend himself. I would have done same thing.

Greg this post is a HUGE fail imo.

You talk about all the unreliable things he did over the years. Your first point being that years ago he was 30 mins late to an autograph signing. Boo hoo!
Really, that's why he's unreliable? Karl maybe an socially undeveloped man baby, but in basketball which is what I'm concerned about, not many people could touch him.
Now when it came to basketball Greg gave ZERO examples. I get it, Karl is difficult to work with in business, as I'm guessing most superstars are. Karl Malone is a basketball player.
He was raised for that, doesn't have an special talents with business or savvy there. He is a rich man with money to spend.
It sounds to me that any little thing he did over 18 years Greg was never going to forget.

From the post I read Karl said he didn't want to call, and get tickets. I never got that he felt he couldn't get them. He acted like he didn't want to pull the Karl Malone card imo.
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that Greg is hard to deal with?

How can you say that Karl is right in this situation? Just because you only care about what he does as a basketball player doesn't mean others do? They had no choice but to deal with the DIVA Karl off the court. You never have had to do so. In your world, Karl gets a free pass because he was a great player. Greg gave more than one example of unprofessional behavior. Karl blew him off several times. I am sure there were more. Greg acknowledge Karl's basketball and charitable contributions so why are you marginalizing what he said. You really need to re-read what Greg said about Karl's basketball accomplishments. He listed pretty much every thing Karl did but these accomplishments don't excuse bad behavior.

Sorry but Karl was and is still my favorite player but he was completely wrong going public about how he felt slighted and for asking for a job right after thrashing the organization without even knowing the facts. This has always been the problem with Karl, he is too emotional. He just speaks before thinking because he feels a certain way. In doing this he pisses some people off. It makes for great sound bites but it can also led to strained relationships. Sorry but I think if it was Karl trashing your business without full knowledge of what happened you would be pissed and justified defending your business and reputation. While both parties could have handled this differently, in my opinion Karl is completely at fault for this situation even becoming public.

It doesn't matter if Greg is right. You don't need to make an already bad situation worse. Take the high road. It's not like we didn't know what kind of person Karl is to be honest.

Anyone who has followed the Jazz as long as many of us all have know about Karl and his "candidness". For me, the issue isn't about who is telling the truth. It is about doing what is best for your franchise and its future. Greg could be 100% right with his comments, but who does that help? Does anyone think that this could possibly have a positive effect on free agency? Getting good players to come play in Utah is hard enough. Greg comes across to me looking petty and immature, especially to a man who did so much for the franchise. If he felt that something needed to be said publicly to defend the organization, he should have hired a professional to write it so it didn't come across the way he did, to me. I am not defending Karl for his comments now, or anytime in the past, but the man gave it his all every time he laced up and went out on the court. How many players can you say have done that in the past 20+ years?

There's no question Greg is right.

No, the only question is how right.

Like is he Hitler-invading-Russia-right, or Napoleon-invading-Russia-right?

If there were any mistakes by the Millers over the years, it was in being too tactful and too loyal. Both Malone and Sloan stayed way past their sell-date.

I mean, look, Salt Lake City has some of the best culture in the world and is now a Free Agent destination without Sloan chasing off all the young talent. Also, the food is amazing, coming in second only to the beer.

Mitt Romney getting the majority of votes there is because of his policies, Greg Miller has a great haircut and the Utah Jazz Front Office always cared about winning.

It's amazing how "complete ********" to the rest of the country translates to "common sense" in utah, isn't it?

Unreliable? How many games did Karl miss? How many practices?

I'll be the first one to say that I didn't like a lot of Malone's theatrics off the court, but for Greg Miller to call him unreliable is a joke.

G Miller is an arrogant POS.

You sir are a liar. This post is not true.
I tried to call your front office people, but they didn't answer.

It's real easy for somebody that is not an owner to say what an owner should, or shouldn't do.
You could be right, maybe it would have been better if he stayed quiet on the issue, but then again I think it was a lose-lose situation he was put in.
I can't fault the guy for attempting to state what he feels is the truth in defense of an attack on him.
If he didn't speak up, how many people would take that as an admittance of guilt, or that what Malone said was 100% truth?

By the way, this publicity could be just the thing that will distract the team so we can get a good draft pick with our own pick.
We do hold the rights to our own pick don't we? (for those that don't know my posting habits... this last line is a joke.... well, most lines are dripping with sarcasm/humor/whatnot)

Great, now all the posts are about how Greg is part of the 1%.
Occupy ESA.....that's just what we need here.
