Hood is the reason 3.0 (Thanks for reading)

How often in basketball does a player get a bigger role and then the player gets worse? It's not common. Hood is scoring more points but he's less effective then he should be.

It happens when you ask a specialized talent to do things he isn’t really able to do. Hood would be good at standing beyond the 3 point line most the time waiting for a pass for an open 3. The guy isn’t horrible but he’s a roll player and a specialist he’s not a franchise guy or a superstar in this league. He isn’t someone you want taking you to an win, he’s someone’s who waits in the wings as a quick pass out bail out shot. Think if you tried to give someone like Kyle Korver a bigger role.....it’s not what he does....it’s not what he’s good at. His purpose is to wait on the wings to jack up 3s. You need guys like that, or even like Hood, but not as your primary guy. He’s a complimentary guy when you already have several good multiple talent individuals around them. I didn’t like Hoods decisions tonight, but relax, don’t kill the gets guy. I would prefer they trade him. That being said you can point out 10 plays in those last two minutes that were just as costly as Hoods two plays to this game. Rodney is not a franchise guy, that’s pretty clear, but he’s not horrible either.

Uhh, all the time. That is the common thing. That's why players who are really good at being high usage typically get paid the most money. If you could just promote everyone and have them improve w/ an increased role, then there would be less big deals being signed.

i agree. that first year after hayward was made into the #1 option, he struggled fairly mightily. he ended up figuring it out, but that increased role/responsibility/focus from the other team can be too much for many.

After Hoods instagram story tonight I’m just wondering when this wound breaks open. He’s obviously reading the hate on social media, which sucks, he really doesn’t deserve a ton of hate by any means, and it doesnt help fans or the teams cause if he ends up not being happy here because fans are sending out ****** things on social media.

I think we need to trade Hood and look to replace him with Hezonja. They are very similar, but I would estimate that Herzonja gets half the contract Hood does this summer. Hood is more proven, but Hezonja is only 22.

Hood should be trying new things. IDK why people are so down on him when he fails. I'd rather him try and fail than just play safe. The Jazz shouldn't be looking to maximize wins anyway. We always knew this would be a rough year for Hood. It's a growth year.

Jacking up bad shots, shooting a high volume while also being inefficient, and playing no defense whatsoever is not growth. He's regressing if anything.

Hood needs to be traded. He's the type of young wing scorer that a bad team will throw big money at in free agency. The Jazz need to move him and Favors while they still can. Gain assets and keep financial flexibility. Begin the process of restructuring the entire roster around Gobert and Mitchell.

Meanwhile, Donovan Mitchell takes the blame for the loss.
I like the humble mentality but it leads to in-game problems, such as beating a man to get into the lane for an open look, only to dish out for a Rubio shot on the perimeter.

He’ll get better at being the right kind of selfish. He’s gotten better at everything else so far. . .

Hood was much better even as a 22 year old rookie. Hezonja will probably be playing overseas soon. Not everyone can play in the NBA.

Exactly what I was going to say. It takes a while to adjust, no doubt. I still have a lot of confidence in Hood, he may not be our ultimate #1 option but he can easily be a #2 or #3 for sure.

Hood can be better, he just needs his own roll. I wouldn’t care if they moved Hood, but Hood isn’t that bad. Also, to any Jazz fan talking **** on Hood on social media it would do you good to stop. You don’t think his teammates (DM) care about the hate? I get this is a business but these guys are together everyday and friends. Disrespecting other players because they make a mistake or miss some shots doesn’t have a good look or feel. Fans should still be supportive of Hood, not killing the guy. Which is why DM posted on instagram a photo of him and Hood from yesterday’s game with a raised fist emoji as the caption. Want to retain guys in the future like DM? Don’t disrespect and kill his teammates when they are struggling. Be a bit loyal to the team you have instead of killing a guy it does no good. Hood has potential, just not as a number one option. I get it’s in every sport and every fan base, but killing a guys teammates doesn’t do any good. If anything make comments of support towards Hood. He missed a shot last night. So what? He was engaged the entire time he was on the floor last night and made a couple mistakes. Let it be and still be supportive of a guy who is still wearing a Jazz uniform.

I don’t think anyone here is doing that on social media. Well, I could think of one guy who would do it, in addition to a sort-of inactive poster (under his normal name) who used to go at it online with members of CJ Miles’ family.

Such a dumb look, Hood has gotten a lot of hate and it’s unwarranted and unhelpful. The dude missed a shot and made a couple bad decisions. Donovan missed a shot and completely got lost on a couple defensive plays. Mistakes happen, and the amount of hate Hood has gotten is wrong, and then reading stupid *** comments even on DM post is even more embarrassing. Hood is his teammate and friend as well, killing the guy when he’s down is just a bad look to fans.
