What's new

Hood is the reason 3.0 (Thanks for reading)

The nice thing about drafting an older player like Hood is you usually know what you got by the end of year 4. There is no need to pay a heap load extra for "potential".
Let's take advantage of that fact, and not overpay for potential that isn't there.

We also got a ton of cheap value already... if we flip it for another 1st rounders that’s a great return.

If he is a spot shooter for us, he has to start. He can't run the offense and is an average passer. I think DM is best suited at SG. That's why he needs to play SF as a starter.

Is Hood better than Ingles at starting SF?

Sent from my VS995 using JazzFanz mobile app
NO. He's not better in any way than Ingles. I was mocked last season for stating that Ingles was a better player than Hood. And again in the off season when I said that Hood's starting spot should be up for grabs instead of Ingles'. Simply put Ingles has been a better player than Hood for a season and a half now.

Not really. Hood hasn't been inefficient. There are not *****oads of guys who can take seven 3's in a game and shoot 40%.

He said shooting guards who can score 17 points per game. I said that there are lots of shooting guards who can score 17 points a game if given minutes and shots.

No one said anything about how many threes are taken or how efficiently.

Yes you would yank him and you would be wrong. Hood and lots and lots of other shooters start off cold and hit a shot and are "hot." That is what shooters do. If he is a good shooter give him the green light, if he isnt dont. No reason to play head games with a shooter and make him hesitate. Snyder is great at coaching this, when guys are open they are supposed to shoot if they are deemed a reasonable shooter.

I don’t think every player is the same mentally.
I think Jamaal Crawford could go 1-7 and still have the confidence to believe the will make he next one.

I think when hood goes 1-7 he starts to doubt himself.

He is a good 3 point spot up shooter and a good 3 point pull up shooter.

I would not say he is good off the dribble inside the three. He is shooting 30% on pull up shots that are not 3s, that is bad.

I like Hood as a starter but as more of a Klay role.
I don't like him as a starter. If you have Gobert in the lineup you need play makers in the lineup. And Hood isn't a play maker. Also Ingles is just plain better than he is.

We have a good starting SF. His name is Jingling Joe.

I love Joe.

I would start Rubio, Mitchell, Fournier, Ingles and Gobert. 3 shooters, a rim vacuum and Rubio.

After about 5 minutes, put Thabo/Jerekbo at PF and move Ingles to SF, Mitchell to PG and either Burks or Fournier at SG. Different threats there too.

I'm not comfortable with the Jazz giving Hood 18-20M and out of curiosity, the peeps that are pro Hood, are you comfortable with it?

A 20M a season guy should do, and be a bit more than just a streaky shooter.

I think Hood has made a small stride in some aspects, like actually getting to the ft line, but he is who he is, and it won't change much.

Some might say, well other teams are overpaying for pure nonsense sometimes. Well, why do we need to follow them? We don't.
