What's new

Hood traded to Cleveland for Crowder; Johnson to Sacramento

This year, yes. Last year, no. He handled the ball a fair amount. The most on the team besides IT and Bradley. He shot plenty of pull up shots and shots off the screen.

Stats wouldnt back that up. Crowder did a lot more last year in Boston that Ingles has this year. Ingles is a better shooter. He is a better passer. Crowder is a better ball handler, driver, his effort on the floor is higher, ill take his defense, he can score in a lot more ways.

Inlges defense has the benefit of Gobert backing him up as well.

I understand why you would make that claim but Ill take last years Crowder over Ingles any day of the week. This year Crowder has been crappier, but I blame that on Cleveland.
Crowder's defense has been massively overrated last 2 years, and especially now. Ingles is better than Crowder in every single facet of the game right now. Well... maybe except for rebounding. Cy is absolutely right. Jingles is the better defender and shooter and playmaker...

Have to agree with this. Once Crowder is acclimated to Utah (doubt it takes that long), Crowder will kill it.

so how does this work money wise. i thought the contracts had to match but we are also taking on rose's contract. there has to be a pick or something. For people complaining, I remember 80 percent of the board where clamoring for Crowder after losing the player never to be mentioned.

It is that simple. The Cavs are a dumpster fire. The Jazz are doing fine. Why does the trade feel like the Jazz were desperate then?

It's a bet that Hood will get overpaid and Crowder can return to being a positive asset on a great contract.

My only problem is I assumed the Jazz could get more (a decent first-rounder), but my assumption was obviously off.

Inlges plays good defense. But he also benefits from being able to be physical and aggressive since Gobert has his back. Crowder was a good defender last year and his defensive style will fit in well with that. Crowder is a better scorer, he can drive and get to the line along with being a better rebounder.

There are aspects of Ingles game I like better. The Ingles we have seen the last few games is great. The Ingles that disappears and refuses to shoot open shots is one we have seen a lot as well this year. He has been up and down this year. I just think Inlges needs a slightly smaller role.

I agree, but Ingles is very good. He also costs quite a bit more. Dollar for dollar, it's close. ;)

Either way, glad to move on from Hood. He will probably miss the next 20 games due to jet lag.

better than 90% of trades have the potential to work out poorly. The chances that this one blows up in our face is very low. And we're gunning for maximum flexibility (financially and roster-wise) for 2019. The people wingeing about this trade are kinda dumb... the people crowing about it are kinda dumb. This is a solid, low-risk move that emphasizes our strengths in the short-term and leaves us in a good position for what matters most: the next major acquisition.
