What's new

Hood traded to Cleveland for Crowder; Johnson to Sacramento

Should have held out for Osman over Rose. Would’ve been nice getting a young asset back as well.

They needed the Jazz on board to get Hill and were looking to move off IT and Crowder. I think they would have blinked.

Nah there's no way the Cavs would let go of Osman. He's been rapidly improving and they need to keep all the young guys they can for if LeBron LeLeaves.

Nance
Love
#7 pick / Osman
Hood / Clarkson
Hill

That's a nice young team to build off of.

It is. . . but if push came to shove, Utah could’ve scuttled the whole thing and shifted to a different deal if they needed to. I’m sure Rodney was valued enough that a comparable asset could’ve come from somewhere. Getting Hill/Hood is better for Cleveland than keeping Crowder/Shumpert even if it would’ve cost them Osman.

Could they have gotten Hill without us being involved in the deal?

Anyone know?

I reckon Ingles met him at the door because he had been reading Ron Mexico's comparison of him and Jae. Wants to put him in his place early :)

That's a pretty tough argument to make but I can see the FO buying on hope that Crowder can return to Celtics form in QS' offense. Plus his cheap contract. But arguably their best chance at landing a star? Nah, that's far from reasonable.

In 2019 FA totally.

They needed JJ’s $10.5 million salary to match the $20+ coming from Sacramento for Hill’s deal.

Philly has Amir Johnson and Trevor Booker expiring in that range, but Sacramento might have been reluctant to get into another deal with the 76ers because of optics.

There are a couple of teams that could’ve gotten involved with guys who had an extra year on their deal, but Utah and Philly look like the only two who could’ve hit that salary number without adding more salary for next year.

Crazy the path things took over the last 8 months. When Hayward left and before we got a taste of Donovan you would never have thought Rodney would be gone. There is a part of me that will miss Rodney because there’s some good memories while he was here. Things can change so quickly, but we have Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell and a real chance to be very good in the coming years.

Ps- As much as JJ made me cringe on the court sometimes this season, I will miss iso Joe backing guys down and just seeing him in a Jazz uniform.

Thanks Rodney, Thanks Joe

Yep. Despite their shortcomings, I’ve got nothing but respect for them on their way out the door.

Burks in that same boat next year.

burks is about to drop a 50 piece on the hornets.

hood is a good player, will continue to be a good player, I think the cavs will have him spot up more and thats his niche.

We’ll see. They’re not exactly know for using guys how they fit best (Love, Crowder and IT all as recent examples.) Losing Kyrie screwed them hard this year.
