What's new

Hot Dynasty

They probably do, but you can just tell her they don't as MSG is perfectly benign and opposition to it is mostly a trendy thing like the gluten free movement.

MSG, in chemist terms, is idiot alphabet code like government agencies think is "cool".

It is an amino acid neutralized to normal body pH. In the stomach and gut it follows the local ph and is absorbed as the free amino acid into the gut just the same as all of your digested protein

Of course this is the opinion of a saltacholic who buys red salt blocks mined from ancient salt beds, and keeps a piece or two on the desk, and licks it when I'm feeling the thirst for salt, and who has blood pressure and heart stats considered good for teenagers. . . . .

Yes, MSG has a "salt" value, but unless you have impaired kidney function or high blood pressure, some salt is good for you. It is an essential to a good diet.

I love Chinese food, and will check out this place. Thanks for the tip.

But as an "Old Asia Hand" I observe that ordinary everyday diet is something else.

Cheap stuff. Rice, and local fish and veggies from last nights catch or yesterday's harvest from this morning's street market if not from your own work. MSG sauces are ubiquitous and cheap, and people on this local diet live ten years longer than US citizens, according to insurance industry risk stats.

If you want some awesome korean food, visit LA. I will take you to the best place. :D

Dude, bet you wish you could trek to the motherland atm. I'll just go and have the best 삼겹살 God has placed on this green earth for and in your behalf.

Why is asian pork so much better??

I'll have to try this out. I had been driving all the way to Woods Cross to go to Boba World for decent Chinese. Would love it if this place could replace that.

Quite possible. Just like gluten intolerance is a real condition. But both are very rare according to scientific studies, and the sudden and explosive popularity of the trend is clearly a fad. A few ever bring up saturated fats and antioxidants anymore, even though they were huge pop-culture health trends a decade ago. Now the zeitgeist has moved to new things, and it will again before too long. That's all I'm saying.

To be fair too much saturated fat is bad for anybody and antioxidants are good for everybody.

Salt Lake City, Utah 84115

(inside of Salt Lake Chinatown Center, Next to Chinatown Supermarket)

Is this whole Chinatown Center spot new? Didn't even realize Salt Lake had that. Is it legit, high % Chinese mainly shopping there? Might have to swing by next time I'm up there.

Going to try this place within the hour. Will critique

LA do have some bad *** quality pork belly, but nothing can beat motherland pork belly :(

Can't wait to visit there again!

I'm at Hot Dynasty right now. Ordered twice fried pork. Looking forward to trying it out.

So I just got back. I ordered the twice cooked pork, mongolian beef, deep fried ribs, egg soup, chicken stir fry, and ham fried rice.

I can see how someone would really like it. Good flavors and such.

My problem is that I'm just too damn American. I don't like lots of stuff all jumbled together. All my dishes (except the deep fried ribs) had all kinds of **** mixed together and I had no idea what alot of the stuff on my plate was.

The food seemed really fresh and good quality. I just should have known better.
When I eat "Chinese" food I just want wantons, pot stickers, and fried pork or chicken with sweet n sour or teriyaki sauce along with some ham fried rice soaked in soy sauce.
I can't do "authentic" food in general. Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, etc..... I want it Americanized.

It's probably a question of exposure and mentality. I personally am an adventurous eater, and I like to try new dishes from across the world. But I also had to acquire the taste for a lot of things that I like nowadays. As a teenager, I could only eat Middle Eastern food and American fast food. So basically what I grew up on. But my taste expanded as I got accustomed to more and more types of food.

BTW, I thought the pork was FANTASTIC.

For the first time, I am disappointed in you, fish. You're better than this.

While this is very true, I think he's missing out on one of life's best pleasures.
Oh I agree. I hate my taste buds.
I also don't like basically any fruits or vegetables which really sucks cause they are good for you. I don't like strawberries, raspberries, bananas, preaches, pears, blueberries, oranges, broccoli, peas, cucumbers, squash, tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms, zucchini, etc, etc

I do like carrots, corn, potatoes, celery, and watermelon. That's about it.

I eat way unhealthy. I wish I liked healthy food. (Somehow I'm still in pretty good shape.... 6 foot 3 and 205 lbs at 37 years old)

Only good thing is that I don't like sweets. I don't like cake, cookies, donuts, candy, etc

Lol

I know people like you. You are like your own breed.

I don't get the person that doesn't like fruits and vegetables. I haven't met a fruit or vegetable that I didn't like.

I got a few friends that won't touch a single vegetable. It's so weird. I got friends like you who like corn and potatoes and a couple others things.

I don't get it. I think you are truly missing out.
