How's this for context...in the 40 year history of the NO/Utah Jazz franchise, guess how many Jazz players have ever obtained a triple double in a multiple OT game? It starts with a z and ends with ero. Also this is the first time in NBA history that two rookies got triple doubles in the same game. But I guess that's not really a great accomplishment because it's so easy to get trip-dubs in 2OT games right? Anybody can do it...

I think Burke's injury has set him very far back in the race maybe too far to win it. Awards like ROY are based on raw stats not efficiency. MCW is a guy with great physical ability to rack up plenty of raw stats. TB3 is a high efficiency player. I think Trey could end up with the superior advance stats while Michael will still win the award with poor shooting%, assist/to ratio, and/or PER.
ROY on playoff teams?
ROY (unlike MVP) has nothing to do with team wins and playoff appearances, and everything to do with individual stats. In the last 10 years, no ROY teams had a winning record and only one made the playoffs.
This all makes sense because top picks generally go to bad teams, bad teams are generally rebuilding and playing youth, and bad teams generally have no better players for top rookies to play behind.

Its not impossible but he has to overcome the late start, the triple doubles, and then the bad record (if the raw stats of two players are similar the teams wins are then used as an argument that one is superior to the other). Ultimately it is a popularity contest and the Jazz have been reluctant in years past to gloss their players or coaches.
