What's new

How good or bad is Enes Kanter. Really.

So maybe if he struggles we get him cheaper this summer?
Only a 4-year deal. Might be worth it to keep him and draft another PF. If Favors or Gobert go down, Kanter can fill in at the 5; we need a guy like that. And he keeps working on his shot under Quin.

He can't play the 5 anymore, he is 247 lbs. Blake looked like an older brother, pushing him around on a driveway court. Kanter is kind of in no man's land right now. An experiment gone awry.

This is total BS. Kanter DID have(maybe even still has if he pulls his head out of his arse) the potential to be an All-Star big man. Him not fulfilling his potential certainly doesn't mean that people were wrong about his potential. Do I think that he will be only an average player/bench big man? At this point, yes. But I and everyone else who thought similar things about him had all the right and necessary reasons to think that he could be an impact player in the NBA.

I can blame the early preseason fail of 3's to mental unreadiness, but if he can't straighten his shooting consistency longer into the regular season, I will have the idea that he is not working on anything to get better. If he really has the ability to shoot, he must nail those wide open chances. And he must have the ability to calculate his hot-hand level or cold-streak coming ahead, so that he can skip to playing low post which he is really good at to contribute on offense. Versatility is a blessing if it is actually used, not only talked about.

Ok, so I had a post that I deleted about Enes Kanter because I realized I was being too harsh on him. I think that he did ok last year considering how new he is to the NBA. I would like to see him gain some confidence and toughness this year. With his size he should really focus on his physique and bulk up. He needs to be able to push his defenders around in the paint. I think that we are going to see a different Kanter come regular season in comparison to what we saw in the preseason.

Let's imagine the Mailman being asked to shoot threes. Not just a few. But, for that to part of your offensive scheme. How effective would he be? Or how about asking Favors to do the same thing how effective would Favors be? If you think that they would struggle? Then why ask so much from our third year player who has been on a short leash since he got here? Hayward gave us five years of nothing. Now he seems to finally be rounding into shape. Why be so critical of players like Kanter if you see what Hayward has started to become?

Maybe he can become a Memo type player with an ability to play physical.

Not going to happen. Al Jefferson really blew up in his fourth year averaging 21/11/1.5 and has never made an all star team because of his defense.
Kanter might do 15/8 this season with comparable defense to Al's.

Lol it has nothing to due with him playing defense or not. That isn't really considered in All-Star voting. They consider a combination of numbers and how much your team wins. There just have always been bigs putting up similar numbers in the West who actually played on winning teams.

Nah dude he just kind of sucks and is an extremely flawed player, always has been. He has potential because of some solid footwork and touch that developed at an early age, but he lacks any kind of mental or athletic potential. Hard to be good in this league if you are a below average athlete and a way below average IQ player.

Al did 21.8/11.2 last year and was not voted in.
Sap did 17.9/8.5 and was a reserve.

That's a fairly big difference production wise. Al had the better PER. Charlotte and Atlanta's records were comparable. Why was Sap voted in over Al?

Maybe because he was more athletic and fitting to an All-Star game.

I think that although kanter has some real weaknesses, I don't think shooting is one of them.
Right now his shot is not falling but I think it's just a slump/funk. I believe he is a great mid range shooter and I think his three point shot will come around.

This guy knows what he is talking about
