How Much Could Tyler Herro Match Donovan in Utah?

Player 1 - 27mpg 18.4ppg 52%EFG 35%3p 2.5apg 4rpg 1.6tpg

Herro - 33mpg 20.7ppg 52%EFG 40%3p 4apg 4.5rpg 2.6tpg

If Player 1 would have played 6 more mpg, he would have more points per game, more rebounds per game, close to the same assists per game but less turnovers per game.

Who is player 1?
Jordan Clarkson

Couldn’t we take Lowry back in the deal and re-route him to somewhere like Dallas and get expiring contracts plus picks?

The time to trade for Herro was when we had Gobert. I think the drop off in talent would be compensated for some in just a psychological revamp. At this point, you only take Herro to pump up his value and parlay it into something else.

No, he becomes our Shai in our version of the OKC rebuild.
Both can be true. I just think if he makes a little improvement the asset of Herro is not something to dismiss. We are also getting a **** ton of picks and swaps with it. If he does look better you can move him at the draft (or agree to the deal and execute early in the offseason because of the extension). Most guys will improve from their age 22 season... he's not so good that he wrecks the tank.

Bingo. We got a winner. NBA 6th Man in 2021 vs NBA 6th Man in 2022. Damn near identical. Nod goes to Herro for being a better 3 point shooter. Nod goes to Clarkson for being better with the ball.

I'm not saying Clarkson is better. I'm just saying that being the #1 focal point of the offense (like Donovan is) compared to being the 6th man is quite the difference I have zero faith in building a team around Tyler freaking Herro.

What if JC had put those numbers up at 22 years of age? Also, what if JC could put up those numbers while not hogging the ball?

A player at JC's level at 22 might be awfully close to Don's level at 26.

We aren't building the team around him... he's an asset...

Guess what... we aren't building around Donovan either... cuz he is gone in a year or sooner...

Dude fudged Herro’s numbers to make them look closer too lmao.

Herro is likely a CJ McCollum 2.0 type player... he's helpful... maybe he could be more. Just saying.
