How much should we be talking about Donovan?

People trying to compare Donovan and Dame last year and all summer are morons. If you couldn't see the difference in the two then you have no business talking hoops except with other like minded people like your self.. Dame is a scoring PG but he a pg still who could play make for others. Mitchell has always been more of a SG. His plays making for others is not even close to level of Dame. Donovan is more CJ then Dame

Sorry....then you have it all wrong IMO. Who he is as a man and what he does in the community is more important than what % he shoots from 3. I’m a fan of the Jazz, always have been, I’m also a fan of Donovan and who he is. He gets more of a pass because he’s a second year player being asked to do a lot and he’s really not having that bad of a year. He’s playing decent by a normal players standard. Also yes, who Donovan is, and how much he’s embraced being here absolutely should give fans more loyalty to him. How many guys do you see do what he does? You treat him with that love back IMO and that includes him getting more of a pass. Some of you being ridiculous and overly critical of a 2nd year dude trying to figure out what he’s trying to figure out will feel awful dumb in a few years as you sweat hoping he doesn’t leave.

Another reason is because he cares, he works extremely hard and it’s not due to a lack of commitment to being great. He wants to be great, he will be great. And the kid has earned all the patience in the world.
I could not agree more. Thank you one eye for being the voice of reason.

Dame compared Donovan to himself.

A couple of things, sorry if these have been addressed:

1. Donovan is MUCH better on the defensive side of the ball right now than he was at any point outside of Summer League last year. He has flat out locked some good players up. I actually think he is now a better defender than Rubio, who isn't a slouch. It is possible that some of his development time has gone of that side of the ball. He is, right now, a better defender than Dame and McCollum will ever be. It matters, especially when they go head to head.

2. His development time has been almost non existent. We have only had a couple of home stands this year, and Donovan was injured through a good portion of the offseason. There has been little time to work on offensive wrinkles outside of actually playing games, mainly on the road. The entire team has looked discombobulated and has been slow to adjust to the defensive scheming being employed against them. Some of the massive upcoming homestand against poor teams will be a chance to get this worked out when getting those three hour practices on. I expect our defense to tighten up even more as well. Those sloppy lobs and passes out of bounds will look like Jazz basketball again.

DM will be fine. Seriously.

Less than ideal offseason, still adjusting to being a STAR, ton of film on him now and teams are adjusting to how they play him. Personally, I think hes living a little outside of himself atm which is effecting his focus on court.

Dudes a STUD, never doubt. EVER.

A lot of posters have also not taken into account that opposing teams are game planning specifically to dial in on DM and make his night as difficult as possible. He is having to adjust on the fly and learn to play at a high level with the added attention. Like a few have said already, once he figures that part out, the flood gates will open again.

I for one have no real issues with his game play given the tasks that he's been given by his coach and our still major lack of shooting or play makers/creators on the team.

That's because they don't. Collapsing on him when he drives and letting him shoot from 3 is a pretty generic plan.

Yet we have seen tweets and read articles about Dante staying after practice, putting in extra work on his finishing and shooting, and the results of this are starting to show on the court. The time and opportunity has been there if DM wants to work on his game, but he'd rather consult with adidas about his clown shoes.
