What's new

I have seen the future...

Well this makes him pretty deadly now doesn't it?

If he gets on a roll and gets some swagger going and so does the rest of our team we will be the best team in the league, IMO. I just wonder if guys like Dante and Favors can get that swagger? Joe has it, Donovan has it, Rudy has it, Ricky has it, Burks has it, Grayson has it, Jae has it.

He has it already. He has looked very aware that he can get where he wants to and has been more decisive. He is in control. He is also the best or second best at throwing lob passes on the team.

If he stays healthy he's shown enough for me to feel comfortable with him being our starter if we had solid backup options. He can definitely start the blender.

I'd like to see him get a few more minutes, but think he's in a perfect role for right now.

To answer the question, yes, Exum looks like he could be a key part to our future. If we have a healthy Rubio and Exum for the playoffs, I think we have one of the best PG tandems in the NBA. Both can provide some offense and both can switch on D without giving us a massive disadvantage.

Insane how this team is shaping up.

I think Dante is somewhat on the cusp of a breakout game. By January something is going to happen. I smellz the triple-double simmering. On a per-36 basis at least, or maybe if Ricky misses a game with a man-bun incident. Hell, last night he had 6-4-3 in 16 minutes.

Anyone with me?

I mean, for the first time, I can see Exum slipping into Ricky's second guard role. If he could pull that off, it would be amazing and really help us on the salary front. I love Ricky, but to have the option to spend that money somewhere else would be ideal, even if we decide to spend it on Ricky after looking at other options.

I'm very optimistic about Dante. As others have pointed out, he seems to be able to get to the rim at will. He's too big for the likes of Barea or Yogi Ferrell, and he's too quick for bigger players if you switch. Once he learns how to finish better or starts dunking like last night when Powell hit him and should've been tossed.

One thing I'll point out that no one else seems to have done is that I've noticed that Dante is only r months older than our rookie Grayson. Dante just turned 23! By the time he's in his prime, he may be quite the player.

I agree that Exum is starting to look like the player his supporters have touted he would be come. Great days seem to be ahead.

what I have noticed about exum, he's got a nice drive to the rim and gets to the rim at will. He just needs to finish when he gets there.
His defense is really good, his length and quickness gives him the ability to switch on almost everybody. The next thing exum needs to work on is his shot, if he can give the jazz a good 2-4 three pointers he will be deadly. Right now defenders slack off him a bit, but if he continues to give the jazz some outside shooting it will be great. Imagine if exum had knock-down 3 pointer where he could pull up from outside, that would be insane.

Echoing much of what has already been said..... his speed and length are elite, his passing is good, his ability to get to the rim is elite, his aggressiveness and fearlessness has been a revelation.

But i always knew/assumed most of that (other than his newfound aggressiveness and fearlessness). I have always said that his ceiling will be determined by his shooting.

So far this year in a small sample size he is shooting 41% from the field and 31% from three. Those numbers are very similar to his career numbers (40% and 31%). Those numbers need to improve quite a bit.
At least he is getting to the line a bit more though.
