I'm not really against weed but I just have to say I HATE when people justify it by saying "its a plant!". Not every damn plant is good for human consumption or use. And tons of bad **** comes from plants that can harm you or even kill you.

Let me sell you some nightshade, hemlock, oleander or a few toadstools, amongst other things. There are hundreds of plants that can make you seriously ill if not kill you. And some plants that have healthy parts, but the seeds, stalks. leaves or roots are poisonous.

Yet most of those plants are legal.

Hemlock and castor beans are totally legal. Hell, the castor bean is a precursor to ricin, one of the most deadly things in the planet. Legal. Cannabis is the precursor to THC, a substance with no practical overdose. Illegal. That just makes a ton of sense, but then again in prohibitionist world things like logic don't apply (as with things like economics, pattern recognition, fairness, and liberty to name a few).

So in other words yeah, it's just a plant.

Well, LogGrad98 has won the grand prize by just using a little bit of common sense here! You legalize pot....more people will be smoking it. The more people smoke it, the more people high on the stuff there will be. The more people high on the stuff....the more accidents/fatalities caused by the pot smokers there will be. This is not "brain surgery" here guys! (Oh, wait! If a "brain surgeon" who legally has been smoking marijuana, operates on someones brain....will the results be better or worse than the non-pot smoking surgeon?....I'm going with the later!)

I get your point and to an extant I agree. But there are those that will smoke it if it is legal that do not since it is illegal. Such as people who would smoke it but work at a job that drug tests. So legalyzing it will increase the use of marijuana. But I am fine with that anyways.

Pass it. Then tax it like tobaccco and pass laws for it similar to alcohol.

Look at pornography as an example. Its much more of an issue now because its so damn accessible then it was 30 years ago. When something is easily accessbile more people will try it.

That should be a pretty easy thing to understand.
