If Kanter and Williams are gone by #3, take Jimmer

I, for once, am actually going to agree with this poster. This is one of the perceived weakest drafts in a while. The perceived #1 pick (Kyrie Irving) only played 17 games in college and Duke was better when he was not in the game. Derrick Williams will probably be off the board @ #3. Compare Fredette to Deron Williams coming out of college. Sure, Williams led his team to the National Championship game. Of course, his team was much more talented than Fredette's. Also, Williams really only had one year of "big" success in college. Deron also had nowhere near the scoring ability that Jimmer had at the same level. And Williams was drafted #3 overall. Had Brandon Davies not been suspended, BYU would have probably gone to the Final Four. His suspension totally changed everything about their team. I really think that Fredette will be off the board @ #12 now that he is receiving rave reviews in his workouts. He was the consensus National Player of the Year. And who is to say that you "have" to take the "perceived best player available" with a pick? What if the Jazz think that Fredette IS the best player available when they draft @ #3? Why should the Jazz build their team the way that the national media "says" they should? The Jazz ultimately will draft the player @ #3 that they want the most from the players that are still available. Who are we to say who that is? Why should a bunch of "mock drafts" determine who the Jazz think the "best player available" is for their franchise?

I couldn't agree more pappyman. In looking at previous drafts, it's pretty evident that the Jazz have their own priorities about who the best players are come draft day. Utah's picks tend to baffle people every year and, even though many people think they know what the Jazz should do, the team will surprise us yet again. And I totally agree with your points regarding Deron Williams vs. Jimmer. I think, regardless of how or where Jimmer gets drafted, that he will prove himself worthy of a high lottery pick. I just hope he's on the Jazz when he proves everyone wrong.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Duke undefeated until after he got hurt? How is it that they were better than that after? If you are talking about in the tournament he was far from 100% and had not played in months.

Two mocks had Jimmer going to the Jazz at 6 before the lottery. Could KOC live with himself if Jimmer blew up for Sactown? Not sure he could.....He would be looked upon as the most foolish GM of all time for not getting the college player of the year that actually WANTED to play in Utah. They won't take him at 3, but a trade down with Washington is quite possible, so please no one act retarded and start 3 flaming threads if it happens.
