But Sac taking Fredette means national champ Kemba falls to the Jazz at 12. Yeah, he's not the home town hero but many consider him the better player. And this is coming from someone who's pretty smitten with Fredette, but Kemba definitely has swagger and charisma and moxie - and he's a winner. If Jazz want a PG @12, just take whoever falls.
I even like Jenkins, Jackson, and Darius and they're all borderline first round. Maybe the Jazz should take Bismack at 12.
The point is there will be plenty of options at 12.

No guarantee Walker falls. The Bobcats could take Walker at 9, and would be a likely upgrade over Augustine. Jenkins, Jackson, and Darius look solid, but are a huge reach at 12.
I agree with the OP and thought it was a well reasoned argument. What really surprised me was the reaction he got. Damn you all should be NBA gm's with the wealth of certainty and the way you were willing to ridicule someone else. No one jumped up and down when it was suggested we take Knight with the third pick, and he was definitely not considered a sure fire all star kind of guy. Is Jimmer that much worse that you all would flat out insult and make and post like internet bullies?
Jimmer was consensus POY and is showing impressive quickness and strength, he states multiple times that defense is a priority, and to top it all off he's a fricking local rock star. It's not a ludicrous stretch to consider him at 3.

Having an IQ above 37 isn't a sound reason a player should be drafted at #3.
I don't hate Jimmer, and wouldn't be upset if the Jazz drafted him at 12. He's not the best option at #3 though.

I do agree, GVC, that Jimmer's not the best option in general for most teams. However, in terms of who Jimmer is in relation to the Utah Jazz, he does make a lot of sense in the scenario where Derrick Williams and Enes Kanter are both gone by the time we draft 3rd. In that scenario alone, I think Jimmer IS worth the Jazz's third pick or that we should draft Irving and get some value, but still end up with Jimmer in the end. I stand by my original statement. Thanks to all who responded thoughtfully.
Yes it is. And I'm one of the biggest Jimmer fans on the board.
The part in red makes a lot more sense than drafting Jimmer at #3.

With due respect, responding thoughtfully doesn't imply anyone give credence to this silly argument. Anyone, let alone the Jazz, drafting Jimmer at #3 is about as likely as Glenn Beck publicly endorsing Obama. You can be a Jimmer homer all you want, but this is just plain dumb. (Not you, the argument.)
Let me add that if KOC does draft Jimmer with the #3 and Jimmer doesn't turn out to be a star, it could very likely cost him his job, and, frankly, it should. This is not the case selecting the other legit options out there. It would be reckless risk taking, which is one reason why it will never happen.
I've been lurking on this board since the end of the season--really interested in what happens with the draft this year for the jazz, and the way Favors and Hayward came on towards the end of the year got me psyched as well.
Sorry my first post was harsh---but so were many of the posters responding to the OP, and undeservedly so IMO. I would like to see Kanter selected at 3, and I think Irving and Williams are both great prospects, but its not a stretch for the Jazz to consider Fredette at 3, considering alot of mock drafts have the Jazz taking Knight there.
As the draft process has gone on--the three top point guards are getting closer in many peoples minds (Fredette answering questions about phsyical tools and mindset to play D), those here laughing at a high Jimmer pick are probably those who wouldn't take Knight at 3.
