If not Rubio then what?

IDK why Kemba is unrealistic. He is going to go to who pays him the big bucks and I think a lot of teams will be hesitant due to his size.

I think Charlotte rolls out a 5 year max... if they don’t I think NY does. It sounds like his first choice is Charlotte. Once one or two free agents sign with their own teams there will be more max spots than max players... kemba likely has his choice of max contracts.

Playing Mitchell at the 1 would open up the floor more and put more pressure on defenses, given Mitchell's ability to get on the rim. Defenses tend to sag off of Rubio. Mitchell would also have a strength advantage in most matchups. Maybe in a year, Exum could also become the starter at the 1 if his game keeps maturing. Mitchell and Exum could run a two-guard front and altnerate managing possessions similar to the way Chris Paul and James Harden do.

That said, the Jazz probably like Rubio enough to keep him if the price isn't too high.

other teams will love Mitchell playing the 1. HE isn't great yet at setting up others. Other teams will let Michelle go off for 40 while locking everyone else down. Bad move. Not saying he can't and won't play pg but at this time he is far away from playing exclusive at the 1. Imo

When Rubio got injured at the end of the OKC series, Mitchell played a lot of time at the 1 and was quite successful at it. If you look at games last year that Rubio missed, the Jazz were still pretty successful in large part due to Mitchell sharing the PG role with Joe Ingles.

I don’t know what the plan is... I can tell you I wouldn’t want to commit big money to Ricky.

I’d like to get someone who can shoot and create a bit. We don’t need a true pg... so it should open up the field a bit. Things just have to fit a little better.

Between Mitchell, Dante, and Allen, I think the cap is better spent on another position/skillset. Acquiring the perfect 4 should be this organization’s top-3 priorities.
Yeah, but there are literally two (Harris and Mirotic) sign-able starting level 4's next year so the margin of error is slim.

Game 3 : Rubio+Exum 10pts (3/19) vs Conley+Mack 35pts (10/27)
Game 4 : Rubio+Exum 13pts (4/14) vs Harden+Carter-Williams 36pts (13/26)
Game 5 : Rubio+Exum 39pts (13/24) vs Holiday+Clark+Payton 20pts (8/17)

Sad thing is we’ve had opportunities... Bjelica in Sacramento finally playing the 4 (Thibs had him at the three a lot) has been a monster. Niko obviously.

I honestly think Jae and Niang can give us a lot of what we need there. We should commit to one big lineups. We could get wing help, roll with DM, Exum, Ingles, Allen at 1 and 2... add some additional wing play and be pretty tough.

If we were to trade for OP Jr. we could still go get something with the MLE. If we try to sign someone we don’t have that option.
