If not Rubio then what?

Terry rozier. He hits 3 pointers and plays defense. It also hurts Boston. He's the best choice.

Watch regular season Terry... he’s not the guy who had an amazing playoff series against a terribly coached team.

IDK why Kemba is unrealistic. He is going to go to who pays him the big bucks and I think a lot of teams will be hesitant due to his size.
Can charlotte play him the most big bucks? Will they?

Good post. PG position isn't good enough right now for sure

Rubio is a great guy and great for the locker room. However, he's not good enough to take us where Mitchell and Gobert expect to go. Those two guys expect title contention.

In a perfect world, Mitchell, Grayson and Exum emerge as our top PG options and Rubio becomes the guy who runs the 2nd unit. I think he expects to either get the starting role or get big money. I don't think we need to give him both and it's unwise to pay him more than $10 a year. I know that seems harsh, but he could be a glorified bench warmer if Mitchell, Grayson and Exum progress as expected.

I would rather give Rozier $10+ and understand that he's streaky than give Rubio 10+ knowing he's only going to regress.

I am confused. By the end of last season people was saying that Ricky was really good. Yesterday, I was reading that it was time to start Exum. Now, neither of them seem good enough (even after a good play from Ricky). What will be next?
Remember last season when Ricky seemed a bad fit for the team (even I thought that way at some point) and how it ended. I think that it is too soon to say that Ricky is not the PG of the future. This thread probably started because of the loss (and a few bad games from Rubio, I admit). Losing sucks. In my case, staying awake till 4 am to watch the loss sucks even more. But Utah didn't lose because of Ricky. They lost in spite of him, wasting the lead while he was seating with foul trouble. Long term, I don't think he is going to regress and he is going to be more affordable than some superstar PG mentioned.

I want to keep Rubio, but I think he is best for the 2nd unit as we evolve. Based off of floor spacing and control of the ball, this just makes more sense:

1st Unit:
Exum - planted on the wing/corner for 3 or pump fake & drive
Mitchell - primary ball handler
Ingles - secondary ball handler
Crowder
Gobert

2nd Unit:
Rubio - primary ball handler
Grayson - secondary ball handler
O'Neale - planted in the corner for the corner 3
Niang
Favors

I think our 2nd unit could play with many teams.
