Well, gassed or cramped, most coaches will still play their #1 guy down the stretch, and the idea is "if we lost I'd not be the one to blame" but it's stupid. So Igor made the smart choice.

Btw in his interview he talks about possibility of considering a head coach job in Europe. He also said there's much work to be done in Utah and Snyder told him to get the W and return to Utah.

He refused the head coaching job for Panathinaikos in Greece to work with Quin 2 years ago. For those who don't know, Panathinaikos is about as storied of a club as there is in European basketball. They have 35 local championship titles and 6 Euroleague titles. I wonder if he feels different now. He probably can have his pick of the litter from the teams without a coach in Europe, but in mid-September it's not the best time for that(championships are starting already in some countries so most teams have coaches).

He wants to coach in the NBA. The most logical path is to serve as an assistant. As we all know, winning Euroleague titles doesn't impress American team owners for whatever reason. Take a college team to Sweet Sixteen, and somehow you're the next big thing, though.

PAO is a pretty middling team in Euroleague now. Budget not up to par with the elite teams like Madrid, CSKA, and Fener. Think he should be happy with the Jazz. He would also have a Gator as his starting PG so definitely better off in Utah.

Yeah, I was talking more about tradition and name... They are not at the top right now, as you said because of relative lack of $$ compared to the other teams.
