What's new

I'm just going to go ahead and say it

Yeah, but Moon didn't start playing in the NBA until he was 27. Besides the jump shot, everything else between the two is pretty similar or no? I don't think Evans will ever have a great shot, but I do think he will be able to knock down 15 footers at some point in his career. At least I would like to think.

Bryon Russel couldn't hit anything when he was a rookie. He eventually became a reliable shooter. Evans has a decent enough stroke to do the same. His free-throws are pretty pure.

Hmmm... Maybe...

I'm really beginning to like our frontline. If Memo can come back and play half decent offensively, and the rest of our core stay healthy, we could actually have something that we haven't had in forever, DEPTH.

Unlike previous years, perhaps AK and Evans might be able to slow down Odom when the Lakers move to their "small" lineup? Unlike previous years, we actually have a big man (Jefferson) who plays inside and not just yell while bricking jumpers from the top of the key. That sweet baseline spin Jefferson had in the 3rd quarter was amazing. I had sexy visions of him getting an and 1 against Gasol.

I'm beginning to like this team... As long as they stay healthy... Raja to frustrate/closeline Kobe... AK to slow down Artest/Odom... Jefferson, Millsap, Evans, AK, Memo, and Fess to throw at Gasol and Bynum.

One thing that we're lacking, outside shooting. Hayward needs to step it up. He had a few nice plays tonight, but also missed some easy ones inside. It's not showing just quite yet, but against good teams they'll shut down these dunks that we're getting and will force us to make some outside jumpers.

And I really don't have any confidence in CJ or AK providing it... This is where losing Wes Matthews might hurt us more than we thought...

Yeah, Hayward missed two easy layups when he was slightly bumped in tonight's game. Dude needs to be strong.

It's correctable.

However, our lack of a proven outside shooter is IMO our #1 concern. No Korver, no Matthews, and no Okur. So we depend on??????????....... CatchNJack (who looks like he did in the reg. season not playoffs), AK, Hayward (rookie), and Jeffers? Uh oh...

The frontline is better than we've had in years. PG situation isn't perfect, but can't be any worse than those years we had Knight or that sucky player we traded to the Clippers. We're the most athletic and deepest we've been in years.

But outside shooting? Yikes....

NBA teams are going to pack it in and dare AK, CJ, Hayward, Raja, etc to keep them honest. Lets just hope they can....

The Jazz are still too dependent on their system and passing. Other than Williams and Jefferson, it would be helpful if the Jazz had a third player who could create a mismatch on offense. The Jazz need a wing with mobility who can put the ball on the floor. Millsap has potential here, and so does Hayward, but the Jazz are still too dependent on Williams setting everyone up.

Who is going to be that third skilled offensive player? That's the question.

Oh I forgot, it's supposed to be CJ Miles...

Yeah, Hornacek has his work really cut out with this bunch. I hope Bell and Miles get more consistent. They are the best bets out of this bench. Maybe Hayward can spring a surprise. But he has'nt yet even had one game like what WEs did in the preseason game last year in London.

And reg Evans--I would compare him more with a younger Kirilenko than Moon or anybody else, build-wise. And his game is more like a rookie Millsap-hustle, rebounds and shotblocking.

Thats a void we have'nt filled for 6-7 years.

Jazz probably think a good PG + inside man + a bunch of good role players is enough to take them to the second round and with some luck the WCF. You cant blame them for that. Screw the third option who can playmake and create his own shot. We can worry about that when we actually decide to contend for a championship.

Evans IS that skinny.

And adding weight will not only make him stronger, it will make him even MORE explosive/athletic than he is now. If he adds 20 pounds and can get a canned 3 in his arsenal, holy crap look out. Rich man's Trevor Ariza.
