Is anyone sad we missed out on Aaron Gordon?

I definitely dropped a big F-bomb when Silver announced Orlando's pick. I like Exum (I think) and I hope he and Burks and Burke can create an amazing backcourt. I mostly just didn't want to miss out on Gordon because I still think he's gonna be great. I'm ehh on Rodney Hood (I mainly just don't know enough about him). I do predict a good SL for Exum.

I never got enamored with Gordon. I think he's probably a Shane Battier/Michael Kidd-Gilchrist role player, and I didn't see enough basic coordination and feel on offense to believe he's ever going to be much of a scorer. I don't think he's as talented as Kirilenko, either. I guess time will tell.

After Embiid got injured, I had Exum 3rd on my board and on the same tier as Parker.

I'm high on AG. I probably had him 6 on my personal draft board. I think he'll be more effective offensively than an MKG and is an absolute specimen physically. He'll be a monster when he's 26-28.

That said, I'm very happy Exum was our guy and would have been very disappointed if we passed on him in favor of Gordon if both were available.

i think we may have dodged a bullet with Gordon.... I'm just not so sure he can shoot.



BTW - I think Walt Perrin's comment that Gordon shot well, and DL asking Gordon back for a 2nd workout may have actually helped in ORL deciding to grab him.


BTW#2 - Jazz's rumored promise to Jordan Adams may have also tricked MEM into taking him and letting Hood drop to us????

This. Exactly, it's the time of year for the liars to come out in the NBA, the best poker players always win. I admit that I was down on Exum before the draft because I knew nothing about him but after watching almost every YouTube video Dantè and every article I have read, I have a better feeling that Dantè will be a better prospect than Gordon, and I really liked Aaron Gordon's game. Dantè Exum carries himself and his moves remind me of a Michael. Jordan and Kobe Bryant type player, don't think he will be as good as those two but if he is I see it and sounds like Dennis Lindsey, Justin Zanik, and Rich Scheubrooks knew what they were looking at when I think they secretly hoped Exum would fall to them, probably the reason they pimped Gordon so much. I think Exum was 3rd on their big board after Wiggins and Parker and after the Embiid injury.

I love Gordon! But Exum is a better fit for the jazz. His skill set and star power are going to change where this franchise sits over the next five years. Not to mention Rodney Hood is going be better than people think.

I also agree about Hood, he was the one 3 & D guy at the top of my list coming into the draft, Hood's statistics compared to other potential 3 & D guys was the best in every category where he doesn't have a real weakness on the offensive end and rebounds pretty well, and not to forget Rodney's quote at the press conference about wanting to be know for his defense, I think just about won over every Jazz fan, because we already know how good of the 3 point shooter he is. And like David Locke and Dan Clayton and many others have said when you watched Duke games last year to watch Parker, you came away from the game really liking Rodney Hood's game maybe just as much as Jabari Parker's.

TBH I never warmed up to the idea of Aaron Gordon until I heard Walt Perrin's interview that he was shooting really well, especially on those corner 3's. That's when I saw the possibility of Gordon being as good a prospect as the likes of Jabari and Wiggins.


Who knows whether he was or he was not shooting well. But the fact is when we brought him back a 2nd time it must have put a 'doubt' in ORL's mind about whether Gordon can develop that shot. Because if he can - he's easily the 3rd best prospect.

Please stop your employees from talking me into falling in love with specific players before the draft. David Locke kept talking about Gordon's game changing defense, passing ability and how he would lead fast breaks. By Thursday afternoon I had visions of Jazzman Gordon revolutionizing Jazz Nation as the sf jumped higher than Jeremy Evans to get a rebound, put the ball on the floor and races to the other end faster than Alec Burks and throwing down a thundering dunk that would make the mailman rise up and declare " used to be Air Jordan, now the Jazz got Air-Ron Gordon".

This is not the first time Jazz employees have led me astray. It happened last year with Olynk and Barry Larkins kid. Three years ago it was Montijunas, and in the Hayward draft it was Ed Davis and Patrick Patterson.

I attend at least two games a year and the free open scrimmage, therefore I demand you correct this problem.

Caused the Magic to take him over Exum. Working as intended.

I can see what Orlando was doing taking Gordon and Payton, especially when I take a closer look at Payton. They made a good combination of picks, but Exum was BPA and has the higher upside. Exum is a guy who could become a top 5 - 10 player in the league one day.
