What's new

Is anyone sad we missed out on Aaron Gordon?

I think in time Exum can be a game-changer in the mold of Tony Parker. Even at the 2-guard position he poses a great that to defenses with his ability to get in the lane and his passing. Now, hone those skills over a few seasons and we will all be very happy we had him fall into our laps on draft night '14.

I thought Gordon was a good choice myself. I figured he would learn how to shoot. Everyone compares him to Marion and AK, but he has better coordination than either of them and he has a lot of drive, so I think his ceiling is a lot higher. Well, we will see what we have in Exum.

I was very upset. So upset in fact that I'm going to sit down at the typewriter tomorrow and pound out a letter to the jazz. Here's my rough draft.

Dear mr. Lindsey

Please stop your employees from talking me into falling in love with specific players before the draft. David Locke kept talking about Gordon's game changing defense, passing ability and how he would lead fast breaks. By Thursday afternoon I had visions of Jazzman Gordon revolutionizing Jazz Nation as the sf jumped higher than Jeremy Evans to get a rebound, put the ball on the floor and races to the other end faster than Alec Burks and throwing down a thundering dunk that would make the mailman rise up and declare " used to be Air Jordan, now the Jazz got Air-Ron Gordon".

This is not the first time Jazz employees have led me astray. It happened last year with Olynk and Barry Larkins kid. Three years ago it was Montijunas, and in the Hayward draft it was Ed Davis and Patrick Patterson.

I attend at least two games a year and the free open scrimmage, therefore I demand you correct this problem.
Your letter seems insincere

i think we may have dodged a bullet with Gordon.... I'm just not so sure he can shoot.

BTW - I think Walt Perrin's comment that Gordon shot well, and DL asking Gordon back for a 2nd workout may have actually helped in ORL deciding to grab him.

BTW#2 - Jazz's rumored promise to Jordan Adams may have also tricked MEM into taking him and letting Hood drop to us????

I don't know how someone can be worried about Gordons shot and not Exums. Exum is now a Jazzman so I'm 100% in his camp.

To all the Gordon haters. You never thought we would get Exum. Most of you were pimping Vonmeh. LOL

Most teams don't trade up one spot and I think the Jazz would have said no to that. The FO also said that they heard that Exum might fall to them earlier in the day.

Orlando could have gotten the 35, at minimum, but the Jazz would have traded Gordon ad 23 for Exum before Orlando got the proposal fully out their mouth.

I thought Philly would have passed on Embiid and then tried to bargain him back from the Jazz. Philly and Orlando is dumb.

I don't think people "aren't worried" but there's almost a 20% difference in their FT %. Both can improve it but AG has a much tougher hill to climb.

I disagree.

The proficiency standards for a 1/2 are much higher than for a 3/4. Exums speed advantage will be greatly reduced if nobody is afraid of him shooting beyond 18 feet. Gordons athletic skill set would be curbed to a much less degree without an outside shot. I'm rooting for Exum and I really hope he develops a better (less flat) shot.
