David Blatt will leave Maccabi Tel Aviv for an unknown position in the NBA. Maccabi is expected to appoint longtime assistant coach Guy Goodes to replace him as head coach.

Blatt has received interest in being hired as an assistant coach by the Golden State Warriors and Utah Jazz. The Cleveland Cavaliers are also believed to be interested in Blatt for their head coaching vacancy.

I just think Blatt is a general not a soldier. Same like Snyder. At least that's what I get from him... If Blatt would be head coach and Snyder an assistant than it would make more sense to me.

If Blatt is truly wanting to get into the NBA then he will take what he can get and rise up thru the ranks from there.

It would make more sense for him to go to Golden State as Kerr has never been a head coach and would probably need someone on the staff that had been. Snydie has been a head coach before.

BTW Maccabi won the Israeli Championship yesterday. It means they have taken 3 titels out of 3 possible (Euroleuge, cup and championship).
It is an exceptional achivment.
It will be amazing to have DB in Utah.

Don't see why we couldn't have both. I do want Engeland more though. His track record of turning non shooters into shooters is impressive.

Would be an even bigger coup if Quin Snyder could get the both of them onto his staff. I'm sure that Snyder and Blatt are familiar with each other from their time as competitors, and the Jazz have already expressed and interest in Engelland. Blatt, Jones, Jensen and Engelland. That's a hell of a staff for a first year coach. If I'm the Millers, I tell DL to do whatever he needs to get this done. It's well worth the investment.

Even though it would only be for a year or two, getting Blatt would be amazing. The guy is both a tactical and motivational genius. He's able to do more with less. The fact that he's dominated this year like he has is amazing. He'd be such a great hire. I want both. And if I owned or ran the team, I'd be willing to pay a premium to get them. I just imagine what our young players could pick up from guys like Blatt and Engelland. Invaluable.

Blatt held a press confernce in Israel yesterday, announcing indefinetly he will coach in the NBA next year. I will try to translate some of it and post later. It is all over the news here.
