Is Quin blowing it with Dante?

Snyder coaches young players very hard. I think he believes if his young players can handle such harshness and discipline, they'll maximize their potential and become tougher individuals in the process. If they cannot handle, they're not tough anyway and hence can't be relied upon in the long term. This approach has produced Rudy Gobert and Hayward of today but may also have caused Lyles and Exum's struggles.

**** that esse. Gobert is a bad *** a stone cold killa. Only think Quinn is to him is more motivation as Rudy is harder on himself then anyone else could ever be.

Whoa, going out on a limb there. Bandwagoner.

Boris, I need to pay attention to your posts more. You sound smart.

Boris- "Jazz will be lucky to head back to LA 2-2, if not 1-3. Book it, homer."

It's not straight stats to me. I know Mack will eff up too, but Dante throws a pass or two that end up going the other way for layups. He does it with enough frequency that he can't be the pg or primary ball handler. If he plays good defense and is off ball on offense then sure, but I think if you need a pg... go with Mack or Neto.

Dante had 10 bad pass TO's all season. All season! People have picked up some weird ideas about him. He does not make bad passes with any regularity. He does drive in and get the ball stripped or misses a layup which is the main issue. Look under "Play by Play" section here: https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/e/exumda01.html

I think there is a narrative going around out there that has been perpetuated by Locke that Dante is some TO machine. It just isn't true, and especially not when he passes.

Generally I agree but I feel that the Jazz think that the second round is an immediate goal and Exum does not help with that. They can take the long view with him.

Now next season I would look for his role to increase. If he is in this same scenario because there has been no improvement next season then I would start to worry that he is a bust. He should show signs of improvement and as a result an increasing role on the team.

Yes, he needs work but this series is not the time.

I actually think he is the best backup option this series as well. There isn't a huge difference between any of the players, and I can understand Snyder going with a veteran, but just on a basketball level I think Exum brings the most to the table. But I do agree that next year is going to be a much more important, and telling view of his future.

So back to my original thought, which is that a strong confident finish to Dante's season would help him massively in his mental preparation for next season and could also massively speed up his overall development, which we will need to contend for a championship in 2-3 years. Time for Dante to get a small taste of greatness.

Exum turns it over a lot relative to how much he does on the court.

it's more his turnovers are like Burk's .. inevitably they're him out of control and stumbling or falling while driving which leads to a 5 on 4 fastbreak and 2 point the other end within 3-4 seconds.

in general play i don't think he makes many bad passes at all, in fact i think his passing is pretty good compared to the rest of his game.

Well now he's had it. Very interested to see what happens.

One thing about last night is that he was in control the whole time. Didn't hit the ground. Didn't flail. He was spectacular.

Hate away, ****ers. ;)
