Is Rudy being used properly?

I've been noticing lately how often Rudy is open in transition but guys don't get him the ball. They also seem to miss him in half court offense. He leads the league in FG% at 67%. Wouldn't he improve if we put more trust in him? I might be wrong considering how well we've been shooting the 3 but what do you guys think?

Let Rudy shoot above the break threes. He’ll be in a better spot for transition D, too.

He can't dribble or shoot. We are trusting him about as much as possible with those limitations.

rudy is good at those high catch and high finish. we need passers of 6'6 or more to give him those feeds consistently. any low pass or bounce pass, which requires him to gather/bring the ball up for the finish, will allow the defender to get in the way and diminish his overall effectiveness.

just imagine DM or Conley executing the pass in Ingles' place. they will either miss the feed, get the pass intercepted, or try a low/bounce pass that will allow Cody Martin to get into the passing lane and stop Rduy

Oni fits the bill of someone who can pass and has the size. He would feed Gobert like crazy - better than Exum in all respects except first step.

Yeah, I'm talking about when he's within a couple of steps of the rim in transition, which for him is about 10 ft out. Pass it up high and let him go for the dunk.

You posted this while I made my last post... exactly what I had in mind.

Yes. Rudy can’t handle the ball worth a ****. Rudy is very important to the team, he’s a specialist. If it’s not a lob I expect a TO.

Even these he struggles with gathering quick enough at times and the defender catches up. I don’t trust Rudy’s offense near enough to see him used much more than he is.

It's been better lately. Still room for improvement. Also noticed he has been better at grabbing the bounce pass. That used to be an automatic to. I believe Rudy will come every season with something added to his game. He always has. I even think he was justified when he was asking for more passes earlier given how effective he has proven. We are really spoiled to have a big man as determined and gifted as he is.

Oh I highly agree there. Throw it up and let him go battle for it.

Think its more match-up dependant, I would like to see us look for him more against the Rockets and Lakers who overplay on the wings. If anything to force them to adjust.

I like the transition play a lot more than a bounce pass in traffic. Truthfully, I can't understand why we can't get more buckets in transition period. Conley or Exum need to be leaking out instead of both crashing the boards all the time. But that idea that the entry pass has to come from somebody 6'8" or better is pure nonsense IMO.

Rudy's minutes are up to 34.4/game, most in his career and 2.5 minutes more than last season. But his attempts are down from last season. I don't think this is what he had in mind, especially after working on his offense in the off season. Rudy has only had 8 games this year with over 10 FG attempts but in those games he has been 68-90 for 75%.

Rudy had a double-double in the first quarter last night but only ended up with 9 FGA for the game. The starters got hot from 3 but still kinda weird that we completely went away from Rudy.

God awful post, cringe worthy. He has never played with Gobert.
jesus christ
Great post, just my thoughts. It had to be said.
Teams are defending Rudy differently this year to take away the dunk so no surprise that his attempts are down.

Teams are getting away with holding him on screens, what got coach T’d Up, he was at a boiling point as the refs haven’t been calling it, like at all.
