I mean, he never got that in Minny. It appears as if he is imposing Snyder's will on the court to a degree that no other player has ever done and being whatever we need at the time we need it. Obviously, Gobert and Mitchell are important, but it appears that both are better with Rubio.
We waited 7 years for Haywood to grab the reins, and he eventually did, sorta. But I never got the feeling that he considered the Jazz "his" team, which was obviously the case. Rubio has come in and grabbed the role by the neck in eight games. I just haven't seen that happen with a newcomer in an established system.
It all may be a fluke and teams may adjust and Rubio may go back to just being a piece of the puzzle, but with what he has done, the love this guy seems to have across the NBA, and the opportunity for redemption story arc being introduced the way it has, I can't help but wonder if we have just scratched the surface of what will become "the Rubio era Jazz."
