I’m gonna need a real season to sign-off on a serious commitment (him playing in a consistent and contributing role on a good team), but my mind is open to the possibility. The bar isn’t even necessarily that high, he just needs to show he can contribute if he’s off-ball (shooting 3s well on low-volume) since he seems to rely so much off of having the ball in his hands, rhythm, and volume.

However, if he opts out this off-season, I would probably just let him walk.

He has an interesting off-season ahead, both in the gym and in the office or whatever.

THT would probably have serious value to a team with a weak bench, regardless. I just don’t think depth is going to be a problem for the Jazz.

It will be interesting to see if he opts out. The article from Sarah Todd seems to indicate he won't be. I tend to agree that he probably wouldn't as I'm not sure he's been consistent enough for a team to give him a big deal. I would guess that he will be very interested in what role the Jazz would be giving him next year. If he's not going to have a guaranteed role he might opt out just to be in a situation where he can showcase what he can do for a bigger eventual pay day.

Does anybody know when his opt out date is?

A google search tells me the day before free agency begins and mentions June 29. But I don’t know for sure if that is this year’s date or was last year’s.

Is Damian Jones a long term piece?

Maybe deserve it's own thread, but probably not. He looks young, but is 27 years old and 7 year vet. I believe we have him for another year, are we comfortable going in to next year with him as our backup C?

Jones looks awful at times, but he doesnt miss from 3 (very flukey of course) and is athletic enough to defend star bigs like Davis decently. He's on contract for next season so he's at least here until then unless he's included in a trade. Not anyone we should be bending over backwards to keep IMO.

I think Jones, Luka, KO can be our backup 4/5 next year and we will be pretty solid. Assuming we find a wing that replaces KO in the starting lineup.
