Is Trey Lyles Dead to Snyder

I was watching the Lakers game last night on the flight back to the West Coast. They were talking abut how Walton told Russell to make 1000 threes a day. Lyles needs to spend time in the gym shooting. We know the guy can shoot - he just needs to do it.

How do you think a cranky DWill would have treated Trey?

Can't tell if you're being facetious? Kid is 19 bro. Give him time to develop physically and mentally. He's a smart kid and has the physical tools (beside the body ATM which he can change) to be a great player in this era of NBA.

Is he really 19? I don't think that's right.

According to the googles he is 21 years of age.

I am sure this has been said but the Jazz are in winning mode right now and Lyles is a liability on the court. Lyles is not helping us win and we are fighting for our playoff spot. That does not mean the Jazz have given up on Lyles or he is a bust. He just needs more practice and I am sure they want to put him in positions to succeed. We will still play him in certain matchups and in injury situations but I am guessing he gets very little minutes for the rest of the season, except in blow outs. There is no benefit to sending him to the D-League. He would play a different role there and would not help him much unless he really found his shot. Although I think his shot being off is more that he is over thinking the game right now and it is moving too fast for him. Lyles will still develop into a useful player off the bench for us or more. The game will slow down, he will make better decisions and his shot will get more consistent. He has shown he can shoot, he can pass, he can handle the ball well for a guy his size. His defense needs to improve and his decision making but those are more mental things that will come around. Although I doubt he is ever a great defender but he at least tries and has enough athleticism, which means he can be decent.

I don't care if he gets considerable minutes for the rest of the year. He should be hitting the weights and working on his body in anticipation of a productive summer so he can actually become a player in the NBA.

The DNPs are getting a little weird, though. Hopefully he'll get some court time tonight.

Right now, Lyles is soft mentally and physically. Trey needs to learn from Dante and learn to adapt his game to being more physical and improve.

I am not sure Trey is a good shooter. His free throw percentage isn't great and I worry he did well in a small sample size last year. Andy Larsen said he isn't even shooting well in practice.

I think some saw him as a Ryan Anderson type... I worry he might be more Mirotic like. Guy who's rep as a shooter is much better than his actual ability.

Not giving up on the guy but if someone gave me a fair offer I'd consider it. I said the same thing about Exum and now he's playing well so I expect Lyles to start tearing it up now... you're welcome.
