Joe Barton, rep. from Texas, on climate change:

“I would point out that if you’re a believer in the Bible, one would have to say the Great Flood is an example of climate change and that certainly wasn’t because mankind had overdeveloped hydrocarbon energy,”

I would like to thank Rep. Barton for actually disproving my once thought of notion that my opinion of elected officials couldn't go any lower.

I want to se the new Superman movie but almost never see movies in the theater anymore.

Redbox here I come! Lol

Can this be any stupider than Nancy Pelosi saying we need to enact Obamacare so we can find out what it is, and just let us find out there's some unelected committee that's writing endless rules and regulations that have the force of law???

This guy obviously has a lot of constituents who are seriously bible believers. . . . in that context, you need to understand that politicians will say anything that their constituents want to hear. This guy is going lower and lower. . . but getting re-elected just the same.

Both are pretty stupid. I believe plenty on the right have beat Pelosi's stupidity like a dead horse. And this guy has been in the house since 85, so I doubt he's going nowhere. Not sure if this was even needed by him to keep a seat he's had an iron clad lock on for 27 years, but it sure is fun to laugh at him.

and I'm sure you're not the only one laughing. Well, maybe a lot of folks have forgotten how to laugh. . . . . and just hate him. .. .. or love him . . .. with a sort of mental rigor mortis.

Not any stupider than people dragging out that same lame comment again and again out of context.

I think there is plenty of room in congress for people who believe in god and his Devine Plane (or whatever). Anyone who takes 15 minutes to learn about the history of the bible and how it's been re-written and re-translated dozens and dozens of times over the last thousand plus years into its present form knows that it is basically a collection of fables meant to keep the masses in line. Treating it as an actual historical document to refute modern scientific evidence is a little bit beyond laughable.

No more so than your sad attempt to belittle them for their beliefs. If you did not mean it that way than great but that is how it sounds.

Who wouldn't believe?

A 14 year old playing at the Masters?? And he shot 1 over?

Wow. Very impressive.

Are you providing non sequiturs like the Congressman did, or just trying to derail this thread off a cliff?

Either way, let me know if you need any help.

^^^ This!

But you can't deny the Bible has very historical references in it.

But a sprinkling of real geographic locations, major historical events and such doesn't do anything to lend credibility to supernatural claims. Nothing.
