There was some talk about learning from past draft mistakes and I think it is an interesting topic. I think we can sometimes react too much from past draft mistakes, or sometimes learn the wrong things. For example I think there was something about learning to not draft small guards, but maybe the real lesson was about taking guards who don't defend. I also think we sometimes overrate guys in the draft based on the player they remind us of who is doing well in the NBA, which I think can be a mistake especially when that player is a 1:1, like drafting a huge slow center because they can pass a little and thinking they are going to be like Jokic. Or the huge number of raw athletic guys that have been drafted that were supposed to be the next Giannis. Since draft season intersects with the playoffs I think we often overrate what we see in the playoffs as well. We are going to have 7 different NBA champs over the last 7 years and they all had different types of teams with a variety of different types of players.
