Reminds me of his treatment of Exum. One bad play and it's a time out or substitution. Younger players have never received the opportunity to work through their mistakes with the exception of Mitchell.

We talk about the success in getting older players like Royce and Ingles to transition into the NBA and find a role but that is far different to someone straight out of college who is transitioning to playing against men. Even Clarkson didn't develop his game here, we simply found a way to utilise his ability to score that was needed at the time and has been detrimental this season.
But Exum ****ing suuucked (and couldn't stay healthy even if he didn't).

Exum was so rough. He’d have at least 1-2 nuclear turnovers per game and then would get these touch fouls… made a lot of money in that international tournament that got him drafted and then in a series he guarded harden well… he was the apple of DL’s eye.

Some people will be totally incapable of believing their eyes that a player is bad at basketball because they were drafted high and could have theoretically been good at basketball. DL and that SLC Dunk turd are going to be ruminating about it on their death beds.

I do get when you see something tantalizing thinking there is potential. I also get when you see a guy look like he doesn't know how to play basketball at all going ahead and dismissing those flashes as one off occurrences.

I wouldn't be mad if the Jazz just traded Clarkson to clear opportunities for Forrest and Butler. I think they both complement each other and Donley.

I'd trade JC for a bag of chips at this point. Getting rid of him would mean more minutes for the Butler/Forrest backcourt. Conley does his usual hammy management and we could see more games like the one in Toronto and Phoenix

Multiple games this year we've been close in the fourth quarter until Jordan Clarkson checks in, has three bad possessions in a row, and doesn't play defense resulting in the other team pulling away.

While I agree that Clarkson's defensive lapses this season have been horribad and far too frequent, Clarkson RARELY checks in during the 4th Qtr, in a close game, a blowout game or any game. He checks in late in the 1st Qtr and late in the 3rd Qtr and plays until about 4'ish minutes left in the 4th where he checks out either for Conley or Ingles (if Conley is resting).

Maybe I'm being a jerk for bringing that up but I'm just trying to be factual.

I'll see your bet and raise you. As bad as Clarkson can be at times, his position is very difficult to fill and would not be filled with a Forrest or a Butler. Clarkson is an athletic freak similar to Don in that respect, and for good or bad always gives maximum effort. He didn't win 6th man of the year and in his first season in that position for no reason. If anyone goes I doubt it would be Clarkson. My vote would be for either or both of Conley and Ingles.

My post was more to point out the fact that Jordan doesn't check in during the 4th Qtr in a close game.

I do not want Clarkson gone, especially for nothing as some have been saying lately but was also acknowledging this year his defensive lapses have been more glaring. I even just posted in another thread saying he looks better on defense in the limited minutes when playing with Paschall and/or Forrest and/or House. At least when they are playing with energy it seems positively feed Clarkson's energy.

I would say as far as return value, which as a Jazz fan would be what I am most concerned with and what the Jazz could stand to lose, Clarkson or Conley are the 2 highest on my list. Ingles wont get much by himself and either will Royce but either one of those two could be part of a Clarkson or Conley trade to make things work. I do not think any of them will be traded just FYI.

It was fun to hear the phoenix announcers last night talking about how Booker was "cooking" the Jazz, they kept saying that he was going for 40 or 50, and when they went on a rant about this after he hit a 3 in the third...to pull them within 5 of us since we were in the lead. It was so funny. Cooking the Jazz so hard that we are in the lead. lolol
Chris Paul won them the game Booker had nothing to do with it. Not a Booker hater though--think he's great. But he's not the Sun i'm afraid of in a Phoenix playoff series as I think Mitchell is at least as good, maybe a smidge better.
