What's new

Jaren Jackson Jr. traded to the Jazz

What's worse than losing four years in a row on purpose, destroying player's careers and taking all the fun out of basketball? Will someone come and spread feces on me?

How many tanking years would have satisfied you? 6? 8? 10? 20?
Just watch this team be in no man’s land for the next 28 to 30 years because that’s what I suffered through no man’s land is watching your team run through regular season after regular season only to struggle and not be very good in the playoffs and seeing all of our weaknesses come out and feeling helpless about it. I did that for 28 effing years so quite frankly, I don’t care about winning. I don’t care about losing I just want to remember what it’s like to actually be a real championship contender for me. That’s all that matters.

Been watching clip after clip of MEM offense under both Jenkins and Lisalo....It's such a stark difference in how they play. Very little going on offense compared to the Jazz. They are mostly just a spread it out, then isolate/run PnR type of team. Can't really say for sure how JJJ will be in the dribble handoff situations because that's just not something they did under either coach. Vanilla isn't necessarily bad, but they were vanilla af.

JJJ's main thing is being the trailer and isolating/running at the defense from the top. He's operating in the same spots as a Nurk, there's no off ball movement coming to the ball.

Thanks for watching and giving us a breakdown

Sounds like and opportunity both for him to not play winning basketball while he figures it out now, and him to take a leap after he figures it out in the future. Which would be perfect.

I think Taylor Jenkins' offense is kind of a gimmick. Once teams prepare for the helter skelter ball they can stop it. We saw that in MIA, but that could just be a case of MIA's talent running short. MEM was 6th in offense last season and I think some of the same principles can carry over to any offense.

What makes that style of offense suitable for JJJ is the mismatches. I don't think JJJ is really good enough to take on good defenders who matchup well, but there's also not a ton of guys that matchup super well with him and his goofy *** iso game can take advantage of guys bigger or smaller than him. It's not pretty, but effective. And if you have a big like Edey/Adams (or Kessler) who can hit the glass it's just very hard to stop in transition/live ball situations.

Other teams will have hard time finding a defender for both Lauri and JJJ....and having a guy to boxout Kessler. It may not be pretty, but I remain optimistic that Hardy will create a very good offense with the 3 bigs. If JJJ shows the skill to be a passer from the top and execute on the dribble handoffs, lookout.

Maybe they could double a guard off of Key or Ace?
